The researcher and professor of the Medicine course and the Master's and Doctorate Program in Medicine and Human Health at Bahiana, Bruno de Bezerril Andrade, was appointed full member in the area of ​​Life Sciences, at the Bahia Academy of Sciences (ABC). The title and inauguration session was held on October 20th, at 18pm, at Espaço Raul Chaves, at the Faculty of Law, at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA).

ACB is a private, non-profit entity, founded in 2010, whose purpose is to contribute to the development of science and technology as an essential factor in the country's social well-being, fostering links between the academic and productive sectors. and government of the State of Bahia.

Bruno Bezerril is a researcher at Fiocruz Bahia and professor of Medicine courses at UniFTC and UNIFACS and postgraduate professor at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública (EBMSP) and also PGPAT. Since 2019, he has been co-principal investigator of the Regional Prospective Observational Research for Tuberculosis consortium (RePORT International) and the principal investigator of this consortium in Brazil (RePORT Brasil). The researcher studies diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers associated with the pathogenesis of infectious diseases of great relevance to public health. He is coordinator of a multinational translational medicine group that merges experimental and clinical data to describe inflammatory pathways involved in the immunopathogenesis of diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV, viral hepatitis, arboviruses, malaria, leishmaniasis and bacterial pneumonia, and leads a collaborative network of laboratories in South Africa, India, China and the United States, where it develops studies to validate results in places with different epidemiological profiles.
