A true celebration for science! This was the opening of the 20th National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) which took place this Monday (16), at the Anísio Teixeira Institute. The event is organized by the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SECTI) and promotes programming in several cities in the State. The first day featured a Science Fair with stands from various research entities and partner universities, including public and private. As a partner in organizing the event, Bahiana had a prominent presence with its stand and the opening conference which had the central theme of the SNCT, "Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development", given by the Biomedicine course teacher and researcher, Jaqueline Goes.

Climate change, resource scarcity, environmental degradation and social inequality. These were the four points that, according to Jaqueline Goes, need to be reviewed to achieve sustainable development on the planet. "Over the years, we have sought economic development without thinking about the future, without thinking about how the world will sustain itself", stated the researcher at Bahiana at your conference. Another highlight of Bahiana were the scientific products present at the institution's stand, such as the “Blue Led”, a device that promotes treatment for genitourinary syndrome of menopause in women who are breast cancer survivors, developed by the research center of the Center for Attention to the Pelvic Floor of the Bahiana – CAAP. Also on the stand was the "FLASH PTR" application, by Jéssica Ramos Ribeiro of the Professional Master's in Health Technologies program, under the guidance of professor Cristiane Dias, and the "Chest Pain Score" application, developed by the research group Registos de Síndromes Acute Coronary Arteries Bahiana (RESCA), coordinated by prof. Dr. Luís Cláudio Correia Lemos and, on the occasion, presented by medical students, Marllus Roberto Santos and João Lucas Campos.

The opening ceremony was attended by the governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues, secretaries of State, deputies and representatives of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). Present were the Pro-Rector of Research, Innovation and Stricto Sensu Teaching, Prof. Dr. Atson Fernandes, the superintendent of Institutional Relations at Bahiana, prof. Dr. Diego Menezes, the professor of the Professional Master's in Health Technologies program, Dr. Cristiane Dias and the professor of the Biomedicine course, Lea Ferreira.
