A few meters from the Campus Brotas, the General Coordinator is located in a central neighborhood of the city. The building houses the institution's Rectory, as well as our Management and Quality Center (NGQ) and our Planning Advisory Board (ASPLAN).&nbsp; In the Coordination's gardens, there is a bronze statue of the late Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, former general coordinator of the FBDC. It is an environment surrounded by nature and historical landmarks of our academic community. Here, our students can contact the Institutional Academic Relationship and Internationalization Center (REAI) and the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). The General Coordination also includes the Distance Learning Nucleus (NEAD), the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE), the Communication and Marketing Nucleus (NUCOM), the Evaluation Committee (CPA) and the Department of Infrastructure (DEPIN).
 In this building are also located the Commercial and People Development, Administrative and Financial, Legal, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Social Impact Business coordinations.

With three pavilions and a modern structure, this campus is located in a central neighborhood of the Bahian capital. Are 10 laboratories, 21 theatres, of class e 1 auditorium to provide the ideal environment for academic and social development. Also on Campus Brotas, students, teachers, employees and the external public have access to a complete library with comfortable facilities and an up-to-date collection. Surrounded by a vast green area, this campus has 20 laboratories, 30 classrooms e 3 auditoriums. The library is also open to the outside community, with comfortable spaces for reading, studying and socializing. The environment has a modern and complete infrastructure, ample parking and social center with cafeteria.  The researcher and professor of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública Maria Fernanda Grassi is the newest member of the Bahia Academy of Sciences (ACB), in the area of ​​life sciences. The awarding ceremony took place on September 18, at Fiocruz. The ceremony was led by the president of the ACB, Manoel Barral, and was attended by the president of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), Mário Moreira, the representative of the Rectory of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Olívia Oliveira, the former president of the ACB, Jailson Andrade, and the director of Fiocruz Bahia, Marilda de Souza Gonçalves, as well as researchers and students. "I feel very honored to be part of the Bahia Academy of Sciences, an organization whose researchers are leaders in their fields and whose work is recognized. On the other hand, I am happy to see that the work I have developed, together with other people, such as students and collaborators, has received this recognition," said Grassi. According to the researcher, to follow the path of science, one must seek to solve problems that are often neglected even by academia. "I chose to work with diseases that are neglected, that are rarely seen, both by the academic community and by managers in the pharmaceutical industry. So, in this sense, I believe that we must seek to identify the problems and point out, through scientific methods, what the solutions are, the paths to be taken to solve them. I always tell my students to seek to work with topics that are relevant to society and, whenever possible, to listen to the patient community to see what solutions they need and, from there, work towards those solutions." Maria Fernanda Grassi has a degree in Medicine from UFBA, a master's and doctorate in Immunology from the Université de Paris VII and a post-doctorate from Fiocruz. She is currently a senior researcher at Fiocruz Bahia and a professor at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, from the Postgraduate Course in Medicine and Human Health at Bahiana and the Postgraduate Program in Biotechnology and Investigative Medicine at Fiocruz Bahia, where he coordinates the Bioethics discipline. In research, he works mainly on the modulation of the immune response in infections by human retroviruses (HTLV-1, HIV).

The inauguration and inauguration session was held on October 20, at 18 pm, at Espaço Raul Chaves, at the Faculty of Law, of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). ACB is a private, non-profit entity, founded in 2010, whose purpose is to contribute to the development of science and technology as an essential factor in the country's social well-being, fostering links between the academic and productive sectors. and government of the State of Bahia. Bruno Bezerril is a researcher at Fiocruz Bahia and professor of Medicine courses at UniFTC and UNIFACS and postgraduate professor at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública (EBMSP) and also PGPAT. Since 2019, he has been co-principal investigator of the Regional Prospective Observational Research for Tuberculosis consortium (RePORT International) and the principal investigator of this consortium in Brazil (RePORT Brasil). The researcher studies diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers associated with the pathogenesis of infectious diseases of great relevance to public health. He is coordinator of a multinational translational medicine group that merges experimental and clinical data to describe inflammatory pathways involved in the immunopathogenesis of diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV, viral hepatitis, arboviruses, malaria, leishmaniasis and bacterial pneumonia, and leads a collaborative network of laboratories in South Africa, India, China and the United States, where it develops studies to validate results in places with different epidemiological profiles.
