A few meters from the Campus Brotas, the General Coordinator is located in a central neighborhood of the city. The building houses the institution's Rectory, as well as our Management and Quality Center (NGQ) and our Planning Advisory Board (ASPLAN).&nbsp; In the Coordination's gardens, there is a bronze statue of the late Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, former general coordinator of the FBDC. It is an environment surrounded by nature and historical landmarks of our academic community. Here, our students can contact the Institutional Academic Relationship and Internationalization Center (REAI) and the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). The General Coordination also includes the Distance Learning Nucleus (NEAD), the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE), the Communication and Marketing Nucleus (NUCOM), the Evaluation Committee (CPA) and the Department of Infrastructure (DEPIN).
 In this building are also located the Commercial and People Development, Administrative and Financial, Legal, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Social Impact Business coordinations.

With three pavilions and a modern structure, this campus is located in a central neighborhood of the Bahian capital. Are 10 laboratories, 21 rooms of class e 1 auditorium to provide the ideal environment for academic and social development. Also on Campus Brotas, students, teachers, employees and the external public have access to a complete library with comfortable facilities and an up-to-date collection. Surrounded by a vast green area, this campus has 20 laboratories, 30 classrooms e 3 auditoriums. The library is also open to the outside community, with comfortable spaces for reading, studying and socializing. The environment has a modern and complete infrastructure, ample parking and social center with cafeteria. Dear partner, A Bahiana begins 2024 and is pleased to announce that it is coordinating, with the Municipality of Salvador, through the Secretariat for Social Promotion, Combating Poverty, Sports and Leisure, a new inclusion program to offer, throughout the year, assisted sea bathing for people with disabilities, on Saturdays and Sundays, every 15 days. This new program will be under the exclusive technical responsibility of&nbsp;Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública&nbsp;so that we can continue to use the enormous experience acquired, over 8 years at the helm of ParaPraia, in the continuity of care for elderly people, adults and children with disabilities, people in palliative care admitted to hospitals and at home, as well as welcoming family members of participating people and in the development of recreation and leisure activities. During all this time, we carried out 2.588 baths. This was only possible because we led a contingent of 213 teachers and 401 students from all undergraduate courses at the school, in addition to 310 external volunteers. Everyone was trained by the&nbsp;Bahiana&nbsp;to act in a technical and responsible manner and, above all, with love, care and empathy in providing the special assistance that these people need. Likewise, we would like to inform you that we will not be at the ParaPraia 2024 edition. The organizers' proposal to invite another educational institution to share the same event with Bahiana It doesn't make sense for us, who have built this expertise since its inception, guaranteeing the quality and success of this event. On the other hand, we are very happy, because, from the success of ParaPraia, the desire to create a permanent program was born, which will offer the population access to inclusive sea bathing throughout the year and not just for 2 months. Our students, teachers and volunteers are ready and eager to give the best of their scientific, technical and human knowledge, in order to provide more moments of joy and happiness in a safe and loving way. Recently, the numbers of Covid-19 cases have risen again, represented by the emergence of the Ômicron BQ.1 variant that has caused new outbreaks in some countries and is already circulating in Brazil. That way, this is the time to strengthen our prevention care.&nbsp; Check now some protective measures that need to be resumed: - Carry out self-monitoring and, if you have symptoms, report to your work environment and avoid contact with new people. - Wear a mask correctly indoors, covering your nose and mouth. - Use gel alcohol. - Keep your vaccination record up to date with all booster doses. - Sanitize your hands with soap and water regularly. - When coughing or sneezing, cover your nose with a tissue or your arm, not your hands. The fight against Covid-19 is a commitment to everyone's health.

Warning about the use of masks

We are all aware of the Omicron variant and its effects. On 26/01/2022, SESAB warned that there were 23.985 active cases of Covid-19, an increase of 1.200% compared to the beginning of the month. Apparently, it is a less lethal variant, but more transmissible, which could lead to an overload of the health system. This is already being felt, with occupancy rates in adult ICUs above 70% and pediatric ICUs above 95%, in addition to a significant increase in patients in the regulatory queue for these beds. We are also seeing the huge impact on the workforce, with many workers being laid off simultaneously. This occurs in all spheres, both in private companies and in the public sector, exemplified by the report of the mayor of Salvador, Bruno Reis, who claimed to have 40% of employees on leave due to Covid-19. And in our institution it has been no different. We started the medical internship on 17/01/2022. In the first week, we had 12% of the teachers on leave. Several technical-administrative support sectors have more than 50% of their staff with symptoms. Regarding students, we had a 249% increase in the number of suspected cases compared to December 2021 and a 3.500% increase in the number of confirmed cases. Despite these huge numbers, it doesn't look like we've peaked. The WHO estimates that 50% of the population is infected in this wave, in a period of 2 months. Specialists believe that, in Brazil, the peak should occur sometime in the second half of February. From then on, the number of new cases should begin to decrease rapidly, unlike what happened in previous waves, when we had a high plateau for a prolonged period. We all want and need real-world interaction. Our planning for 2022.1 was built with the guideline of prioritizing face-to-face activities whenever possible, following the recommendations of health authorities that require distancing, use of appropriate masks and hand hygiene. However, it would be impracticable to carry out face-to-face activities in the current context, because, on a daily basis, we would have teachers, students and employees absent, making it impossible to hold classes on campuses. These activities would have to be replaced or translocated to the virtual environment. Therefore, so that we don't need to take a step back in our pedagogical planning and so that we don't lose the gains we will have with the return of face-to-face activities already planned, we decided to postpone the beginning of the semester to the 07/03/2022. In this way, we are anticipating the academic recess scheduled for April and postponing, by 2 weeks, the beginning of the mid-year vacation. This measure does not affect the Medicine internship, which has already started on 17/01/2022, and the Physiotherapy internships scheduled to start on 31/01/2022. The EAD Health Informatics course maintains the start date on 07/02/2022. There will also be no changes to the calendar for the 2022.2 semester, starting on 01/08/2022. We are sure of the understanding and collaboration of our entire academic community and we count on everyone and everyone for the important work of enlightening the population about the importance of vaccinating adults and, now, in particular, children, helping to encourage the maintenance of the already known protective measures, such as the correct use of quality masks, social distancing, hand cleaning and non-agglomeration. Postponement of the beginning of the 2022.1 semester

A School Bahiana informs the candidates that the Prosef de Medicina 2022.1 will take place on December 5th, except for any legal impediment decreed by municipal, state or federal authorities. The exam will be held in a single day and will keep the same characteristics as the previous editions.&nbsp;

PROSEF Medical Notice 2022.1

Dear students, Since the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, BAHIANA has advocated that students in healthcare activities with direct contact with patients should be vaccinated immediately. This is in line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Government of the State of Bahia, which included healthcare students in the priority group. Furthermore, considering that these students are working side by side with other healthcare professionals to care for our population, we believe that immediate vaccination of this group is necessary and consistent with the National Immunization Program (PNI), not only as a way of promoting the individual protection of each student, but also as a fundamental strategy in combating the pandemic.&nbsp; However, it is important to understand that BAHIANA does not have control over the vaccination program and that this responsibility lies with the Municipal Health Department (SMS). We need to recognize that the city of Salvador and the SMS have made a huge effort to follow the PNI, especially in the current context of vaccine shortages. We are partners with the SMS and are willing to cooperate with whatever is necessary. In fact, since February 4, 2021, our campus Brotas turned into a major vaccination point.&nbsp; Finally, dear students, we ask for a little patience, as we believe that very soon we will all be vaccinated.
