Information for partners Bahiana about ParaPraia

Dear partner,

A Bahiana begins 2024 and is pleased to announce that it is coordinating, with the Municipality of Salvador, through the Secretariat for Social Promotion, Combating Poverty, Sports and Leisure, a new inclusion program to offer, throughout the year, assisted sea bathing for people with disabilities, on Saturdays and Sundays, every 15 days.

This new program will be under the exclusive technical responsibility of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública so that we can continue to use the enormous experience acquired, over 8 years at the helm of ParaPraia, in the continuity of care for elderly people, adults and children with disabilities, people in palliative care admitted to hospitals and at home, as well as welcoming family members of participating people and in the development of recreation and leisure activities. During all this time, we carried out 2.588 baths.

This was only possible because we led a contingent of 213 teachers and 401 students from all undergraduate courses at the school, in addition to 310 external volunteers. Everyone was trained by the Bahiana to act in a technical and responsible manner and, above all, with love, care and empathy in providing the special assistance that these people need.

Likewise, we would like to inform you that we will not be at the ParaPraia 2024 edition. The organizers' proposal to invite another educational institution to share the same event with Bahiana It doesn't make sense for us, who have built this expertise since its inception, guaranteeing the quality and success of this event.

On the other hand, we are very happy, because, from the success of ParaPraia, the desire to create a permanent program was born, which will offer the population access to inclusive sea bathing throughout the year and not just for 2 months. Our students, teachers and volunteers are ready and eager to give the best of their scientific, technical and human knowledge, in order to provide more moments of joy and happiness in a safe and loving way.
