NIDD and Medicine course hold 1st Meeting of the Mental Health and Self-Care Axis

The Institutional Center for Teacher Development (NIDD) and the undergraduate course in Medicine at Bahiana held, on January 27th, at the Campus of Brotas, the 1st Meeting of the Mental Health and Self-Care Axis of the course.

The opening of the event was attended by the coordinator of the Medicine course and vice-rector of Bahiana, prof. Humberto de Castro Lima Filho. On the occasion, he gave a brief presentation with updates regarding the course, followed by professor Iêda Aleluia, coordinator of the Mental Health and Self-Care Axis and member of the NIDD, who presented the pedagogical conception of the Axis and how it permeates the entire course of Medicine. Alongside Prof. Lígia Vilas Bôas, coordinator of the NIDD, she also mediated the discussions with the event participants.

The meeting was attended by 30 teachers from different curricular components, who were able to reflect critically on the dimension of Mental Health and Self-Care in medical training. The event highlighted the relevance of communication and sharing of pedagogical processes between teachers in this area and others in the curriculum. The importance of always revisiting the Pedagogical Project of the course was also highlighted so that each plan dialogues and is aligned with the curricular proposal.
