Molecular Mechanisms of Disease and Physical Activity bookThe book "Molecular Mechanisms of Diseases and Physical Activity – From basic concepts to the prescription of physical exercises", by the coordinator of the Physical Education course at Bahiana, prof. doctor Clarcson Plácido C. dos Santos, in co-authorship with students from the research group Metabolic Diseases, Physical Exercise and Health Technologies – METS. The book can be purchased at Dialectic website.

According to Professor Clarcson Plácido, the book emerged after a gap was perceived in relation to books and texts that discuss the molecular mechanisms that underlie certain metabolic diseases. "From these investigations that were more based on the scientific literature, we decided, within the scope of our research group, to identify the main diseases that are part of our daily lives and, from there, write a book that went beyond what was already observed in everyday life", he points out.

The book has 10 articles by students of the research group, whose studies were carried out with the participation and guidance of the professor. The publication was developed over nine months and, after searching for spaces among publishers, the work was accepted by Editora Dialética. "What's special about this book is that we advance in the mechanisms that explain how physical exercises are able to prevent and treat certain diseases. From there, we bring the most recent literature, in the sense of being able to present this not only to physical education professionals, but also to other health professionals, who will have a deeper understanding of these relationships", concludes prof. Clarcson Placido.
