“Our book has a peculiar characteristic because it is a product of our students' dedication to course completion work. The innovative idea resulted in a work with a contemporary approach, based on credible scientific evidence and that will contribute a lot to leverage knowledge in the area of Physical Education and health", was what the coordinator of the Physical Education course, professor Clarcson Plácido, described the book “Physical Education of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública – Undergraduate Scientific Research Practice” (EDUFBA), released on August 6, from 8:11 am to XNUMX:XNUMX am, at Campus Cabula da Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. In addition to Professor Clarcson, the organizers of the book are professors Hélio Campos and Ciro Queiroz.

The work was produced by graduates Anderson Costa, Letícia Nascimento, Ingrid Tatiane Santos, Ana Caroline Reis and Lucas Silva as a product of the conclusion of the 2019.1 Physical Education course. The launching event included an opening speech by Professor Clarcson Plácido and a lecture by the Dean of Research and Innovation in Graduate Studies Stricto Sensu, Atson Fernandes, who addressed the purpose of higher education training and highlighted the importance of the moment : "We started an innovative process, which provides broad access to a course completion product that, in general, would be restricted to an academic audience."

The Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate Education, Maria de Lourdes Freitas Gomes, was present and spoke about the difference of having a book published as a result of the students' conclusion work. “It is a good opportunity to think that undergraduate students are already able to produce quality research, in addition to being a way to integrate education, research and extension into training. These actions make professionals more qualified”, concludes the dean. In addition to the lectures, there were solo dance presentations of classical and contemporary ballet, with dancers Bruna Magalhães and Maiane Mendes, from Companhia de Dança Carina Azevêdo.

“To present a book accessible to everyone as a result of this effort is very relevant”, emphasizes graduate Anderson Costa, one of the authors of the publication. Some copies are available for purchase through EDUFBA or the authors themselves, but after six months, it will be possible to purchase the work for free, in digital format, on the Scielo Books website.

The People Development manager, professor Luiza Ribeiro, was present and was announced, by professor Clarcson Plácido, as the honoree of the next literary production of the Physical Education course, being, therefore, chosen for the preparation of the preface. The coordinator pointed out that the Physical Education course achieved top marks at ENADE thanks to a series of joint work, but, above all, due to the representation of the manager who, since the course's implementation, has contributed, through various initiatives, so that the level of excellence was reached.

Regarding the tribute, Luiza Ribeiro revealed how flattered she was: “It's incredible to have this recognition! This invitation is the result of a four-year partnership, as the course also helps me on many occasions and events. Physical Education is a fundamental area for all other health courses”.
