O Bahiana for one day, an initiative that aims to support the professional guidance of secondary schools, received, on May 3, Colégio Nossa Senhora da Conceição for a visit to Campus Cabula. Throughout the afternoon, the group, with about 20 students from the 3rd year of high school, toured the circuit, getting in touch with a little of the daily life of each undergraduate course at the institution.
The visit began at the Microscopy Laboratory, with the Biomedicine course. Coordinated by lead biomedical scientist Emily Figueiredo, students were able to observe a hematological slide under a microscope. Nursing was presented by the course coordinator, Rosicleide Machado, and the Physical Education course by Professor Roque Sanches, who demonstrated the routine functioning of the Laboratory in Sports Sciences. Physiotherapy course teacher Rachel Trinchão introduced the Skills Laboratory and spoke a little about the profession. The group also visited the Dental Center of Bahiana, conducted by the management team of the health unit. The Psychology course was made known to students through the Myths and Truths about Psychology activity, mediated by Prof. Amanda Gama. The visit ended with the presentation of the Morfofuncional Laboratory, under the coordination of the medical course monitor students.
"I think this proposal by the Bahiana, because it opens the way for our students, so that they can actually see the university, so that they can recognize the spaces, move around where students from that faculty will learn and get to know a little more about each profession in a closer way ", punctuated the psychologist and professional guidance counselor of Colégio Senhora da Conceição, Lídia Costa Pithon. For the student Kaique dos Santos Penha, the Bahiana for one day enriches knowledge for those who are in the phase of choosing an undergraduate course. "I thought all the lectures were great. Even for those who don't want to study the health area, it's good to pay a visit here. All the courses caught my attention, especially Psychology and Medicine".
