A few meters from the Campus Brotas, the General Coordinator is located in a central neighborhood of the city. The building houses the institution's Rectory, as well as our Management and Quality Center (NGQ) and our Planning Advisory Board (ASPLAN).&nbsp; In the Coordination's gardens, there is a bronze statue of the late Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, former general coordinator of the FBDC. It is an environment surrounded by nature and historical landmarks of our academic community. Here, our students can contact the Institutional Academic Relationship and Internationalization Center (REAI) and the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). The General Coordination also includes the Distance Learning Nucleus (NEAD), the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE), the Communication and Marketing Nucleus (NUCOM), the Evaluation Committee (CPA) and the Department of Infrastructure (DEPIN).
 In this building are also located the Commercial and People Development, Administrative and Financial, Legal, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Social Impact Business coordinations.

With three pavilions and a modern structure, this campus is located in a central neighborhood of the Bahian capital. Surrounded by a vast green area, this campus has 20 laboratories, 30 classrooms e 3 auditoriums. The library is also open to the outside community, with comfortable spaces for reading, studying and socializing. The environment has a modern and complete infrastructure, ample parking and social center with cafeteria. Inaugural class of the Graduate Programs Stricto Sensu discusses paradigms of science 
Scientific event took place at Campus Cabula and featured lectures and discussion tables. 
"Is there a difference between science and research?" The questioning was also the title of the conference given by prof. Dr. Luís Cláudio Correia and marked the beginning of the scientific program of the inaugural class of stricto sensu graduate courses at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública 2020.1 which took place on the morning of February 14, in the auditorium of Campus Cabula. The opening of the event had the special participation of Coral Canta Bahiana and an opening table with the presence of the Dean of Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies Stricto Sensu, Atson Fernandes, the coordinators of the Master's and Doctoral programs in Medicine and Human Health, Ana Marice Ladeia, Master's in Health Technology , Marcos Antônio Almeida Matos and Professional Master's Degree in Psychology and Health Interventions, Mônica Daltro, in addition to the medical director of Bahiana Health and Professor of Medicine at Bahiana, Humberto Castro Lima Filho and also a professor at Bahiana and president of the association Bahiana of Medicine, Jorge Jambeiro. 
 
The event was also attended by the People Development coordinator at Bahiana, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, the coordinator of Administration and Finance, Emanoel Olímpio, the manager of the Strategic Management of People and Organizational Learning – GEPAP, Telma Bastos, and the manager of the Center for Development of Educational Technologies – CEDETE –, prof. Antonio Carlos Costa. 
 
"Bahiana it is not just an institution of higher education. We are here to transform lives. We have numerous initiatives in the area of ​​science. So we don't just focus on quality teaching and research, but much more than that, we focus on people's scientific training," said Atson Fernandes. Professor Luís Cláudio Correia's lecture was followed by the speech of the IHAC associate professor and doctor in Saúde Coletiva Luís Augusto Vasconcelos da Silva who brought to the discussion the theme "Knowledge practice: hybrids, borders and permeabilities". 
 
The program also featured a roundtable with speakers, coordinators of graduate programs and graduates of the Doctorate of Medicine and Human Health, Anderson Armstrong, Master's in Health Technologies, Maria Consuelo Nuñez Filha, also a professor gives Bahiana, and the student of the recently created Professional Master's Degree in Psychology and Health Interventions, Luiza Rodrigues. 
 
"I felt included in the various speeches here today, mainly on the issue of the intersection of borders, as I am a lawyer. Since graduation I have been interested in themes that link psychology and law", reported Luiza Rodrigues, emphasizing that the gains with the post -graduation directly reflect on the labor market. "The fact of being able to mature better for the job market has also been very impactful, which requires this professional competence to be able to transgress knowledge linked to other areas. This interdisciplinary perspective of knowledge is something that delights me a lot, and I found it here in Bahiana". 
 
The program ended with the launch of the book “Sicklily Anemia: associated comorbidities in childhood and adolescence”, organized by teachers Cristiane Sales, Cristiane Dias and Ana Marice Ladeia.

Inaugural class of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs

“I am, I make the environment” was the theme of Novos da Bahiana out of 2020.1 The welcome event for freshmen addressed the impact of human action on the environment. 
The least attitude impacts the whole. What do you need to do for the planet and for us? This was the reflection that Novos da Bahiana of 2020.1 arose during the morning of January 31st. The event was held at Campus Cabula and had the theme “I am, I make the environment”. Course coordinators and professors Clarcson Plácido (Physical Education), Ana Verônica Mascarenhas (Medicine), Urbino Tunes (Dentistry), Geraldo Ferraro (Biomedicine), Sylvia Barreto (Psychology), Luciana Oliveira (Common Nucleus) and Rosicleide Machado (Internships and Nursing Practices) made up the opening table. Professor Angélica Mendes (Psychopedagogical Care Center) mediated the discussions. Luiza Ribeiro (People Development coordinator), professors and students from Bahiana. 
 
After the performance of the Choir Canta Bahiana, formed by employees of the Bahiana, the coordinators presented the courses and centers to the newcomers. For teacher Sylvia Barreto, “holding an event and, at the end, realizing how much the public got involved is very gratifying”. The coordinator of People Development, Luiza Ribeiro, understands that the theme is part of the institution's culture, and, in particular, of the Bahiana Green, as it encourages behavior change in relation to the planetary situation. "Nothing more pertinent than sharing this philosophy with freshmen." 
 
Luiza Ribeiro also recalls the success of the campaign that aimed to reduce the use of disposable cups and explains the new proposal for the year 2020. “The carpool will provide a great service to individuals, families, the city and the planet. It also brings people together and makes new friendships possible. We will work throughout the year and we hope that this campaign will be as successful as the previous one”. 
 
Guest speakers, André Soliani (Coordinator of Social Impact Business at Bahiana) and Thiago Siqueira (environmental psychologist and consultant at e-cons Brasil), addressed the impacts of individual and collective actions on the environment. “The theme was very well chosen, as it is extremely necessary for us to rethink the world that is increasingly populous and polluted”, describes the speaker Thiago Siqueira, who reveals that he was honored with the invitation: “The word that comes to my mind is ' belonging'". The freshman of the Dentistry course, Maria Eduarda de Castro, says that she was apprehensive about the beginning of classes, but that the reception activity reassured her: “I really enjoyed the Choir and the presentation of the courses, in addition to the lectures with great themes”.

ParaPraia starts assisted sea bathing activities for people with disabilities and reduced mobility First day of activities had 67 volunteers who attended 33 bathers. 
It was with great joy that the 67 volunteers, including professionals and university students, received the first 33 bathers of the 7th edition of ParaPraia, last Saturday, January 4th, at Ondina beach. Launched in the summer of 2014, the program aims to promote accessibility and assisted bathing in the sea for people with physical disabilities or mobility difficulties, having already been carried out on several beaches in Salvador and neighboring cities. This year, Para Praia will take place every Saturday at Ondina beach, in front of the Institute Bahiana of Rehabilitation (IBR), until February 15th. A final stage is planned at a beach in Camaçari, on February 29th and March 1st. 
 
ParaPraia is an initiative of the city of Salvador, through the Municipal Secretariat for Sustainability, Innovation and Resilience (SECIS) with the support of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública and sponsorship by Braskem and Salvador Shopping.

ParaPraia starts assisted sea bathing activities for people with disabilities and reduced mobility

IV Health Show of the Cabula-Beiru Sanitary District has a program aimed at strengthening the SUS 
The event was held in partnership with the Bahiana and the Health Department of Salvador. 
In order to give visibility to successful, innovative, interprofessional and teaching-service integration actions that take place in the units of the Cabula/Beiru Health District – DSCB, the Bahiana held the IV Health Exhibit of the Cabula-Beiru Sanitary District, in partnership with health workers in the district, such as nurses and dentists. The event took place on December 3rd and 4th, at Campus Cabula, from 8 am to 17 pm, and had the support of the Municipal Health Department of the State of Bahia and the University of the State of Bahia – UNEB.

IV Health Exhibition of the Cabula-Beiru Sanitary District

Black Awareness Day, Biomedical Day and day to promote innovation and technology in health. III Health Tech promotes innovation, science and technology in Bahia

Professor Hélio Bastos is the first Bahian and capoeira master to join the Brazilian Academy of Physical Education – ABEF. The inauguration ceremony took place at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, at Campus Cabula, on November 8th, at 18:30 pm. Thus, prof. Hélio Bastos took up chair number 21 at the ABEF. The rector of the Bahiana, Maria Luisa Soliani, the People Development Coordinator, Luiza Ribeiro, the Dean of Research and Innovation at Bahiana, prof. Atson Fernandes, teachers of the Physical Education course, family and friends of teacher Hélio Bastos.

The NEOJIBA – Núcleo Liberdade orchestra opened the ceremony. Dean Maria Luisa Soliani, the coordinator of the Physical Education course, prof. Clarcson Plácido, the regional delegate of the International Federation of Physical Education – FIEP, prof. Paulo Lima, the mentor of Hélio Bastos, prof. Alcyr Ferraro, and the founding member of ABEF prof. Cassio Hartman made up the head table. Prof. Paulo Rodrigo Aristides was the mediator of the action. ABEF was founded in 2019, and the professor is one of the first immortals to take office. In all, there are 35 seats to be occupied by the 26 Brazilian states, in addition to the Federal District”.

Clarcson Plácido, coordinator of the Physical Education course, highlights that “the ownership of the teacher of Bahiana at the Brazilian Academy of Physical Education is the maximum representation and recognition of a professional who has built a solid and commendable history in the area. The sworn in professor also highlights the support he received from the family, and, in particular, thanks his wife Ana Virgínia de Campos for her dedication during his career.

Bahiana highlights the importance of “caring” at the 14th ABRH Congress “Caring to transform” was the theme of the Room Bahiana, which had great public participation. 
“Bahiana, in addition to occupying a place of excellence in teaching, it is also a reference in the labor market, especially when we refer to the process of 'caring'”, describes Telma Bastos, manager of the Strategic Management of People and Organizational Learning at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública (GEPAP), when explaining the activities proposed in the Room Bahiana, at the 14th ABRH Congress, which took place on October 31st and November 1st, at the Gran Hotel Stella Maris. The objective of the room was to make known organizational psychology practices aimed at mental health that the Bahiana disposes. With the theme “Caring to transform”, the room featured lectures, film screenings, workshops and integrative and complementary practices in health. The manager explains that not only the Psychology course but also the Physical Education, Nursing and Physiotherapy courses participated in the organization and carrying out of the activities promoted by the Bahiana at the congress: "The competences of these health areas were not recognized by HR professionals, and the institution had the role of awakening attention to new possibilities in the congress, which is the largest in the North and Northeast of the human resources sector". The concern with mental health is a constant, that's why the themes of the Room Bahiana were focused on this subject, with the aim of awakening, inspiring and transforming the public. During the breaks in the program, on the two days of the event, there were activities such as reiki, aromatherapy, auriculotherapy, foot reflex therapy, functional bandaging, body assessment and basic stretching. Telma Bastos explains that all the actions presented are intended to transform the organizational culture of the companies, improving employee engagement and, consequently, the results: “The Bahiana it promoted these ideas through tools that are easy to understand and assimilate, because, in this way, it is possible to apply the techniques demonstrated in organizations. These are suggestions that optimize care to transform”. Two lectures were included in the program for the first day of the event: "Play Pause and PlayGround", which featured the screening of the film "Click" (2006), and "ConectaRH", which aimed to raise reflections on the construction of purposes in organizations. On the second day, the theme “Diversity in Organizations” addressed inclusion in companies and there was first aid training, given by students and professors of the Medicine course, for the participants of the congress. At its stand, the Bahiana it publicized the courses in the Master's area in organizational psychology, while the lectures and activities were carried out with great public participation. Professors from the Psychology course and from the Organizational and Work Psychology research group Márcia Tironi, Carolina Aguiar, Eliana Edington, Myla Arouca and Carmem Barbosa mediated the lecture on the morning of October 31 and spoke about mental health in organizations in constant transformations. As for the theme, professor Márcia Tironi pointed out that “reflection is important for the management of the worker's mental health. We have several spheres of life, and work is one of them. And, often, the employee gives up some important moments because of work. People and human resources managers need to think about this issue”. Professor João Franco, from the Physical Education course, was also involved in the organization of spaces and mediation of reflections. As for the multidisciplinary approach of Bahiana, the professor emphasizes that the dynamics are complementary, as mental health is also related to physical well-being. Luiza Ribeiro, coordinator of People Development, reports that, as we live in a dynamic and demanding society, mental illness can occur through the imposition of values ​​such as constant production and at any cost: “Too much consumption is imposed and, paradoxically, this context consumes people's time and mental health. Therefore, we emphasize the idea that self-care is fundamental to human life”. The 8th semester Psychology student Maria Helena Ribeiro, who participates in the research group on Psychosocial and Work Studies, mediated the activities in partnership with the professors. The student understands that the initiative is part of the set of actions of the university, with the participation of the Bahiana at the ABRH congress. Thinking about this perspective, Natália Brito, who participated in the lectures offered by Bahiana, understands that “the cozy and comfortable environment of the room revealed a little of the identity of the institution itself”. Ana Cláudia Souza, who was assisted with the reiki technique, highlighted how satisfied she was: “The result of the service was exceptional. The professional who welcomed me was very competent. I am grateful to Bahiana for having provided me with contact with integrative medicine”.

3rd year high school students visit Campus Cabula 
Edition of the Bahiana for a day he receives a group from Colégio Batista Brasileiro. 
Students in the 3rd year of high school at Colégio Batista Brasileiro participated in the Bahiana for a day, last Wednesday, October 23, when they were able to visit the academic facilities of Campus Cabula and experience a little of the routine of students from the institution's seven courses. 
 
The visit began at the Prof. Maria Suzana Vasconcelos de Araújo Morphofunctional Laboratory, with activities coordinated by medical students monitors from the Morphofunctional Sciences Group – GCM. The importance of team care was the theme of the experience carried out by the professor of the Nursing course, Cristiane Magali, who also presented the course and clarified doubts about the nursing profession. 
 
On the occasion, the group was able to get to know, up close, the facilities of the Teaching-Assistential Dentistry Clinic of the Bahiana – ADAB Odonto and also Clínica Odontológica, in a guided tour by the administrative manager, Lísia Oliveira. 
 
The professor of the Physical Education course Paulo Rodrigo Aristides talked to the teenagers about the course and pointed out how the professional in the area can propose treatments in an integral way for the benefit of health, through integrative practices. 
 
The former student of the Bahiana and physiotherapist Eulália Barros conducted an experience on craniofacial physiotherapy and a chat about the actions of professionals in this area. A discussion on Psychology Myths and Truths was the starting point for the presentation of this profession, carried out by former students of the Psychology course. Bahiana Julia Beck and Filipe Gurgel. "I really enjoyed the exchange of knowledge. We don't have much opportunity to talk to students who haven't entered the field yet. It was also good to clarify certain stereotypes that exist around the profession", says Filipe. 
 
The final moment of the tour was with the biomedical scientist Emily Figueiredo, who coordinated a practical activity in microscopy at the Laboratory of Chemical, Physics and Biological Sciences. 
 
The pedagogical advisor at Colégio Batista Brasileiro, Armando de Oliveira, points out the importance of the project as it provides practical learning: "I see this initiative very positively, because, as an advisor, I work precisely on the issue of professional choice. , a day that is lived here is much more intense. It is the difference between what you read and what you see and hear. Another positive aspect is that it opens up the range of possibilities in relation to professions and demystifies some other doubts as well." 
 
The student at Colégio Batista Brasileiro Catarina Cerqueira Souza says that, after having made the visit, she is sure of her choice for biomedicine: "I identified with all the experience and I think I have an affinity, I see myself working in research to discover cure of diseases". 
 
Catarina's colleague, Vinícius Augusto Machado, already knows that he wants Psychology, because he wants to help people who have psychic suffering. "It was great to come here because you have a notion outside of school, which is a 'bubble'. Here it is a real experience, among professionals who know what they are doing", declares Vinícius.
