A few meters from the Campus Brotas, the General Coordinator is located in a central neighborhood of the city. The building houses the institution's Rectory, as well as our Management and Quality Center (NGQ) and our Planning Advisory Board (ASPLAN).&nbsp; In the Coordination's gardens, there is a bronze statue of the late Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, former general coordinator of the FBDC. It is an environment surrounded by nature and historical landmarks of our academic community. Here, our students can contact the Institutional Academic Relationship and Internationalization Center (REAI) and the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). The General Coordination also includes the Distance Learning Nucleus (NEAD), the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE), the Communication and Marketing Nucleus (NUCOM), the Evaluation Committee (CPA) and the Department of Infrastructure (DEPIN).
 In this building are also located the Commercial and People Development, Administrative and Financial, Legal, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Social Impact Business coordinations.

Surrounded by a vast green area, this campus has 20 laboratories, 30 classrooms e 3 auditoriums. The library is also open to the outside community, with comfortable spaces for reading, studying and socializing. The environment has a modern and complete infrastructure, ample parking and social center with cafeteria. Family and friends of the 8th semester medical students had a special opportunity to see what the students have produced over four years of study, during the public presentations of their Final Course Projects (TCCs) held on the morning of last Saturday (November 29th). The program included approximately 60 presentations, involving 18 professors. The morning was opened by Professor Juarez Pereira Dias, who gave a presentation highlighting some outstanding TCCs and studies carried out by the institution's medical students. But the moment was truly special because it included the participation of family members, as was the case with student Lívia Nunes Almeida, who had her father, Flávio Almeida, her in-laws, and her sister-in-law in the audience. She explains that she decided to present her work because it was an important part of her clinical training: "It was a moment when I stopped and had a more scientific contact, so to speak. And presenting is precisely closing this cycle. Showing the work we did, the dedication we had." “Today is a time of joy, emotion, and celebration. A rite of passage!” With these words, Medicine professor Juarez Pereira Dias welcomed the students who participated in the oral presentation of their Final Project and their families, on the morning of last Saturday (June 14th), at the Campus Brotas. Also at the opening of the program, the professor presented the final projects from previous years that were highlighted at scientific and academic events and others published in impactful scientific journals.
Throughout the morning, 63 papers were presented, which were evaluated by approximately 20 of the institution's professors. The goal of the initiative, which is optional for students, is to foster scientific research in undergraduate programs, giving it due visibility, and allowing students to celebrate with their loved ones.
“The final project makes the dream a reality. Being here today is the realization of a global dream, because it's not just my dream, but also my family's. I'm from the countryside, and my father arrived here at 6 a.m. to be able to participate. It's exciting. I was more nervous at home than here, because Bahiana It's our home, so here we have more comfort for this type of activity", said medical student Amanda Santos Moreira, who presented the work "Effect of Multidisciplinary Treatment on Glycemic, Blood Pressure and Lipid Control in Women with Obesity", supervised by professor Maria de Lourdes Lima de Souza e Silva

Students in the 8th semester of the Medicine course at Bahiana had the opportunity to share with family and friends part of the effort of their academic trajectory, when they made public presentations of their Final Course Works (TCC), on the morning of last Saturday (30/11). In total, 55 presentations of works were made that occupied several classrooms on the Campus Brotas. The coordinator of the Medicine course, Dr. Humberto Castro Lima Filho, emphasizes that this initiative to encourage public presentation is natural for the institution that values ​​scientific production. “This is a moment in which we celebrate this union between the student and the institution, since this production was done together with their supervising professors and professors of scientific research methodology. It is their production, but we also recognize it as a production of Bahiana”, highlights the coordinator. On the occasion, Professor Juarez Pereira Dias gave a presentation highlighting some TCCs that have already stood out in scientific events throughout the country. The coordinator of the 7th and 8th semesters, Professor Luiz Queiroz, explains that the monographs are previously evaluated and the necessary corrections are made amicably, providing a smooth public presentation. “It is a celebration of the importance of science and critical thinking in the decision-making process of a physician. This is a time when students will develop other skills, such as how to present a scientific paper in public and the correct format for the presentation. All of this is welcomed so that they feel empowered. The idea is that their emotional memory of this process will be a good one,” Queiroz points out. Academic Luana Moreira experienced moments of great emotion, being recognized as a producer of excellent work. “For me, presenting my work here today is closing the cycle with a flourish. It is the realization of a project that required a lot of work and study because it is very specific. But it is with great satisfaction that I present it today and I am happy to see how congratulated it was”, declares the student. For her TCC advisor, Dr. Clarissa Mathias, Luana is a source of pride. “It was an honor to be here at Luana’s presentation, who is a student who makes a difference through her commitment, care, diligence and intelligence. At a time when Medicine is being so distorted, it is good to know that we have future doctors like Luana, committed”, said Mathias. No less emotional, Márcia Maria de Souza e Silva, Luana’s mother, celebrated the special moment: “It is great to be able to witness this closing of Luana’s academic history, who has always been very dedicated. I am sure that she will take this knowledge and use it for the next years of her internship. And our hope, as we are working together with the institution, is to place an excellent professional to work with this population that is in great need of care,” said Márcia.

On the occasion, teachers, family and friends of the more than 60 students who presented their work throughout the morning gathered. The ceremony also included the participation of professor Juarez Pereira Dias, who highlighted student work presented at national and international congresses, even before the conclusion of the TCC. Also highlighted was the speech by professor Cristina Salles, leader of the Research Group International Center of Clinical Sleep Medicine and Research and professor of the Master's and Doctorate course in Medicine and Human Health at Bahiana, which also highlighted the participation of undergraduate students in works of international resonance. The public presentation of works is not mandatory in Bahiana, only the students who chose to make the presentation had their work evaluated by the Medicine course teachers. Academic Amanda Almeida says that she chose to present because she has always liked research. "I think this phase marks the end of a period of great care, effort and study. And I'm very happy to have presented it. I hope, from now on, to be able to present the project at conferences. I think this experience gives us more security, because I had never presented a project publicly", he declared. For Adriana Martins dos Santos, Amanda's mother, "this is a very important moment for her, as she presents a project developed for a long time with all her commitment, to get where she is today. I believe it is the first step of many. It is very important to Bahiana open this door so that parents can follow this process a little here, as we monitor it at home, from preparation to entering the course. So being here today is pure emotion," she commented.

8th semester Medicine students participate in public presentation of Course Completion Works

The Course Completion Work, the famous TCC, is a construction that takes time, patience and perseverance. Recognizing the hard effort of its students, the Medicine course held, on November 25th, at the Campus Brotas, the presentation of the TCC by students from the 8th semester, bringing together around 170 people including teachers, students and family members. The academic event had not been held in person for three years, due to the pandemic. The TCC committee of the Medicine course highlights the importance of the event, as it is a moment in which academics can share the results of two years of collaborative work with their advisors and Research Methodology professors. In total, the work of 60 students was presented.

The congress took place from August 3 to 6, via the Zoom platform, and brought together health professionals and researchers, public managers, historians, sociologists, psychoanalysts and other interested parties who study, work and/or produce around children and adolescents. The poster was the result of the academic's course conclusion work, which was guided by Professor Isabella Queiroz, also from the Psychology course at Bahiana. The student's research investigated what was being published in the magazines Veja and Carta Capital and in the newspapers Estadão and Folha de São Paulo about children living in the periphery, in the context of Covid-19. "With this material, he categorized the data and observed what was said about the condition of these children living in favelas during this period. From then on, he made a discussion, based on psychoanalysis, about the risks experienced by mental health", explains the teacher.
