A few meters from the Campus Brotas, the General Coordinator is located in a central neighborhood of the city. The building houses the institution's Rectory, as well as our Management and Quality Center (NGQ) and our Planning Advisory Board (ASPLAN).&nbsp; In the Coordination's gardens, there is a bronze statue of the late Professor Humberto de Castro Lima, former general coordinator of the FBDC. It is an environment surrounded by nature and historical landmarks of our academic community. Here, our students can contact the Institutional Academic Relationship and Internationalization Center (REAI) and the Research Ethics Committee (CEP). The General Coordination also includes the Distance Learning Nucleus (NEAD), the Educational Technologies Development Center (CEDETE), the Communication and Marketing Nucleus (NUCOM), the Evaluation Committee (CPA) and the Department of Infrastructure (DEPIN).
 In this building are also located the Commercial and People Development, Administrative and Financial, Legal, Communication and Marketing, Institutional Development and Social Impact Business coordinations.

With three pavilions and a modern structure, this campus is located in a central neighborhood of the Bahian capital. Are 9 laboratories, 23 rooms of class e 2 auditoriums to provide the ideal environment for academic and social development. Also on Campus Brotas, students, teachers, employees and the external public have access to a complete library with comfortable facilities and an up-to-date collection. Surrounded by a vast green area, this campus has 20 laboratories, 37 classrooms e 3 auditoriums. The library is also open to the outside community, with comfortable spaces for reading, studying and socializing. The environment has a modern and complete infrastructure, ample parking and social center with cafeteria. The Cabula Campus is also home to the Dental Center of Bahiana, where the Teaching-Care Outpatient Clinic is located, a field of practice for the quality training of dentistry students, from the 4th semester of the course, under the supervision of professors and has ability to serve up to 120 patients simultaneously. With the participation of teachers from other institutions, representatives of social movements and the community, which experienced health promotion actions, the programming of the X Extension Exhibition, which was part of the XXIII Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana, also had several tents that promoted sports and leisure activities; storytelling; musical performances; soiree; graffiti; recreation and self-care. A Bahiana invited children and teenagers from public schools; elderly people from the Cabula Beiru health districts and young apprentices from the institution. An Art and Solidarity Economy Fair also took place during the Exhibition, with stands selling clothes, handicrafts and food produced by the Landless Rural Workers Movement. The Central Citizenship Institute (ICC), an organization from Pernambués, took books, art and sweets to the Fair. At ICC, professor Júlia Tupinambá carries out the Mopiatã project, which promotes care actions for mothers in that neighborhood. In ancient Tupi, his mother tongue, Mopiatã means “to strengthen”. The project arose from voluntary actions based on their own experiences. “As an indigenous, peripheral woman and mother, I know how much society limits us and I wanted to bring other perspectives to more women.” The extension practice of popular health education involves the participation of medical and psychology students, and the idea is that, in 2024, it will be expanded to other courses. “It has been a fantastic exchange, not limited to formal education, but which places care as something ancestral, a power of the collective and a construction of everyone”.

The event also promoted an Art and Solidarity Economy Fair.

X Extension Exhibition highlights popular education

The struggles of Brazilian youth and the relationship between social and health movements guided the X Extension Exhibition, held on October 20th, within the program of the XXIII Cultural and Scientific Exhibition of Bahiana. This edition was planned with the perspective of rebuilding curricula, which now have extension as mandatory, said professor Dr. Lavínia Boaventura, coordinator of MCC: “We are rethinking health training beyond institutional walls, so that students can see themselves as fundamental subjects in the construction of a society with social and environmental justice”. The conversation circles emphasized this proposal, bringing to the Bahiana representatives of diversity (see full schedule), such as indigenous, black, quilombola students and leaders, those from the student movement and street populations. “There is no individual struggle, the struggle is collective, and health training must consider the construction of a society project before the job market”, stated professor Lavínia. The Extension Exhibition paid homage to Oziel Alves Pereira, a landless man who died at the age of 19 in the massacre in Eldorado dos Carajás (PA), and Joel Castro da Conceição, the 10-year-old boy Joel, also killed by the Military Police in Salvador ( BA). For student Luiza Mattos, 8th semester of the Biomedicine course, the Extension Exhibition and MCC are opportunities to approach serious topics lightly and to confirm that science and culture can be together. A freshman in remote learning during the pandemic, it was the first time she participated in MCC in person. “Here I learned to value research and discovered that doing science is a political act,” she declared. The event deepened discussions and experiences of the themes of the XXIII MCC and promoted social responsibility actions for children, adolescents and the elderly in Salvador.

“How can extension contribute to health education involved in the defense of life?”. This was the theme of the IX Extension Exhibition, marking the second day of the 22nd Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana (MCC), held on October 21 and 22 and broadcast live on YouTube and the Zoom platform. At the opening of the exhibition, a special video of the <a style="color: #007bff; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://youtu.be/VTjeLCq4CdI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Black Capoeira Association of Engenho Mestre Pesado</a> (Community Amazonas de Baixo), partner of Bahiana in extension actions. During the show, the Dean of Extension of the Bahiana, Professor Carolina Pedroza, announced the numbers of the 22nd MCC, which featured 237 works presented at the XX Scientific Initiation Journey (PIBIC) and 114 in the scientific exhibition. This year, MCC had a total of 438 subscribers, with the registration fee being partially destined to the purchase of milk for charities. As in every year, the students who presented works participated in a raffle that awards an allowance of R$ 500,00 for participation in a scientific event, contemplating student and advisor. The students of the Psychology course Alice Helena Matos and Marcela Conceição Freitas were awarded. The program also featured workshops held via the Zoom platform.
