International Lupus Day

Share

Patients and family members of the Lupus Clinic of Bahiana participated in a chat with the rheumatologist and professor at Bahiana, Dr. Mittermayer Santiago, in this Monday May 12th.

With the theme “What if it's Lupus?”, the meeting marked the moment of reflection on the disease, celebrated on May 10th - International Day of Lupus. At the time, Dr. Mittermayer addressed aspects related to quality of life, treatment and public policies for the person with the disease. On that day, an article by the rheumatologist was also featured on the iSaúde Bahia website, in which symptoms, treatments and preventive habits related to lupus were addressed. CHECK OUT.

Recently a group of volunteers met at the Bahiana and decided to create an association of patients with lupus or their families (ASSOCIAÇÃO BAHIANA OF LUPUS). The non-profit association aims to integrate patients with the disease, discuss new diagnostic and therapeutic resources, fight to obtain necessary medications for treatment, obtain facilities for patients, such as bus passes, scholarships etc. and spread the word about the disease to the entire population.
