On May 8, CEDETE held the first presentation of a Course Conclusion Paper (TCC) by a student from Bahiana, via web conferencing. Biomedicine academic, Fábio Brasil, presented his work in real time, directly from the United States, where he participates in the Science without Borders program.

The panel was attended by Dr. Luciana Souza de Aragão França, Dr. Fabíola Cardillo and the coordinator of the Biomedicine course, Prof. Dr. Geraldo Argolo, who highlights the commitment, commitment and performance of the academic as points that led the institution to allow his presentation via web conference. “Student Fábio Brasil is a distinguished undergraduate in our course. He did Scientific Initiation at FIOCRUZ, in the laboratory of Dr. Lain Carlos Pontes de Carvalho and was approved in the Science without Borders Program in the USA, which will be concluded at the end of July. During his participation in the program, Fábio participated in the selection for doctoral studies at two American research and teaching institutions and was approved in both. He also applied to get a CAPES PhD scholarship to fund his course and was approved.”

Regarding the presentation model, the coordinator of the Biomedicine course says that the benefits can be used, depending on each individual involved, whether the student will present the work or the members of the panel. “Some will feel more comfortable participating live, others will benefit from this distance by being more shy, but no matter what, the most important thing is that technology allows distances to be shortened, which improves our lives with more. economy and speed”.

Another positive point defended by Prof. Geraldo Argolo is the ability to record and store the presentation, which will be available for consultation or re-presentation to other audiences. "Anyway, I believe that we can greatly improve our processes with the use of these resources, but I think it will be necessary for your requests to be always evaluated, case by case, so that the results are the best possible."
