She said that a project to create a health unit, which may be fictitious. Concerned about the importance of primary care, the student proposed to her colleagues to create a Royal Family Health Unit, in her hometown, Boa Vista do Tupim, 308 km from Salvador. “Primary care is important, as it leads us to think about health in caring for the other. Thinking about health, not only from the point of view of the disease, but from the point of view of the social. The message we want to convey is precisely the importance of caring for the other and the great value of the SUS”.

His team was guided by the professor of the Nursing course and vice-coordinator of Graduate Studies, Research and Extension, Carolina Pedroza, who was also present. “Hearing Roberta talk is very emotional. The highlight of the program was the lecture “The Wholeness of the Human: Transforming Passages”, given by the philosopher, master and doctor in Education, Miguel Almir Lima de Araújo, from the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS). He emphasized the importance of being connected to the other, in order to allow for transformation, "the change that moves both inside and out, because if this does not happen, the person does not know himself and becomes a stranger to himself. even (...) to live is to be in danger”, reflected the philosopher in a dynamic presentation with the interference of MPB music and circle songs.

Impressions

The reception impressed the freshman of Medicine, Manuela Sanches de Aragão Pinheiro. For her, what most caught her attention in the lecture “was the way the philosopher leads his life, showing that we must be detachment from material goods and pay more attention to the other, the importance of looking in the eye”.

Another point highlighted by the new students of the Bahiana it was the Training Selection Process, as highlighted by Érico de Queiroz, a freshman in Medicine, who had already studied Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering at other institutions. “I thought the experience was cool, because it's something you don't expect. We had the dance, in the beginning, which led us to have contact with someone else. There was also the staging of the medical act, which was very interesting, as it highlighted the doctor-patient relationship. Experiencing that, even if not fully, gives us a feeling of what the profession will be”.

A new opportunity for professional life. This was the motivation of Adélia Maria Galvão Alves, a social worker for 15 years, and now a freshman in Dentistry. She says that being in the Bahiana and being able to start over is more than a chance to change your life, it is rather the realization of a dream. “Health has always been a dream I had and dentistry is the path I've always identified with. I chose the Bahiana because of the reference it has”, says Adélia.

Luiza Vieira chose the Biomedicine course because she had wanted to take it for some time. “I always wanted to do Biomedicine and I'm happy with my choice. My expectations here are the best possible. I always knew that the Bahiana it has tradition, it has a concept and that's what led me to choose to study here”.
