2014 Selection for Internship in Dermatology at Bahiana

POST-GRADUATE COORDINATION AND EXTENSION OF BAHIANA RELEASES SELECTION FOR INTERNSHIP IN DERMATOLOGY - 2014

Under the coordination of Prof. Enio Ribeiro Maynard Barreto and support of a team formed by teachers Ariene Pedreira Paixão, Carla Rangel Leite Freitas, Jussamara Brito Santos, Paulo Roberto Lima Machado, o Dermatology Service of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública and the Hospital Santa Isabel, was accredited in 1996 and re-accredited in 2011-2015 by the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD). 

Upon completion of the internship, students will be able to submit to the competition to obtain the title of specialist in Dermatology through the SBD, in partnership with the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB).

RULES AND OTHER INFORMATION

Course Objectives:

To train medical professionals in the specialty, providing mastery of knowledge and techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of dermatological diseases.

NB: The course is unpaid and there are no grants provided by any entityTarget Audience: graduates in Medicine who have at least one year of in-service residency accredited by the MEC in the areas of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases.

Jobs: 02 (two)
Workload: 1.920 hours per year (40 hours per week), as required by SBD. Duration of 03 (three) years.
Syllabus (suggested by SBD):

Practical center - 80% - outpatient (general and specialized in psoriasis, vitiligo and skin tumors), dermatological procedures, phototherapy and surgery. (Santa Izabel Hospital and Teaching-Assistance Outpatient Clinic of the Bahiana - ADAB)
Supporting theoretical core.
Internships in mycology and leprosy in other institutions.
Optional: one month in the 2nd year and two months in the 3rd year of internship in services accredited by SBD.
Vacation: 30 days in the 2nd and 3rd year of the internship.
The program may undergo changes, if necessary, to adapt to the requirements that may be determined by the SBD/AMB during the course.

Assessment and requirements for completion:
The assessment will be continuous (domains: affective, cognitive and skills) through different methodologies. In the end, a final work may be required. To be eligible for the course certificate, attendance (85%) and compliance with the rules and schedules of each course activity will be required.

  1. Program for selection:
    Skin anatomy and physiology
    Dermatological Semiology
    Basic notions of immunology of dermatological interest
    Erythematous-squamous and eczematous eruptions: psoriasis, Gibert's pityriasis rosea, erythroderma; contact, atopic and seborrheic eczema; photodermatoses.
    Urticaria, fixed pigmentary erythema, polymorphic erythema, Stevens-Johnson, Lyell syndrome.
  2. Pruritic papular eruptions: pruritic simple, lichen planus, lichen sharp and lichen striatum.
  3. Vesico-bullous eruptions: dermatitis herpetiformis, pemphigus foliaceus and vulgaris; pemphigoids.
  4. Ulcerative conditions: anemic, microangiopathic, arteriosclerotic and perforating mal ulcers.
  5. Acne and acneiform eruptions. Alopecia. 
  6. Collagen diseases: lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, dermatomyositis.
  7. Granulomatous disorders: sarcoidosis, annular granuloma and lipoid necrobiosis.
  8. Bacterioses; staphylococcal, streptococcal pyoderma; mycobacteriosis.
  9. Sexually transmitted diseases: syphilis, chancroid, inguinal lymphogranulomatosis, donovanosis.
  10. Leprosy, including leprosy reactions.
  11. Metabolic dermatoses: cutaneous amyloidosis, cutaneous alterations in diabetes mellitus and thyroid disorders.
  12. Dermatological alterations of endocrinopathies
  13. Superficial mycoses (pityriasis versicolor, candidiasis and ringworm) and deep mycoses: paracoccidioidomycosis, sporotrichosis, chromomycosis, histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis and mycetomas.  
  14. Viruses: herpes simplex and zoster, molluscum contagiosum and warts in general. HIV and HTLV1.
  15. Zooparasitic diseases: scabies, pediculosis, myiasis, larva migrans, tungiasis and leishmaniasis.
  16. Paraneoplastic Manifestations
  17. Benign tumors: skin, mucosa and adnexa.
  18. Precancerous dermatoses and malignant tumors (basal cell epithelioma, epidermoid, melanoma, lymphomas and sarcomas).
  19. Notions of psychodermatology.
  20. Occupational dermatoses.

Number of questions50 (fifty) in the modality of simple proposition (right or wrong) and multiple choice.

Criteria for filling vacancies: HIGHEST GRADE

 

In the case of a tie, the candidate who has graduated the longest will have preference. If the tie persists, the oldest.
