October is official breast cancer awareness month. A beautiful way used worldwide to remember the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of the disease is through the "October Rosa" campaign, which refers to the color of the tie that symbolizes the fight against breast cancer, the second most recurrent type of disease.

Thus, the third-semester class of the Medicine course at Bahiana decided to embrace the campaign, starting to wear pink to represent one of the most delicate and health-oriented moments of the year.

"It was an initiative we took in October 2012, when we were still the new freshmen at Bahiana, which resulted in the group's union, encouraging us to be part of the campaign in all the following years!", declares academic Maíra de Castro Fernandes. She explains that "Octobro Rosa is more than a prevention and promotion campaign health is a moment when the eyes are turned to taking care of the woman, the attention she receives from the other and, mainly, from herself. the changes that cannot go unnoticed".

According to the student, the campaign also draws attention to the importance of self-examination, "one of the main ways to identify possible changes in the breast and, in this way, ensure the early diagnosis of a possible disease. Let's do our part and participate in this moment . As healthcare professionals, as women, as sons and daughters, as brothers and sisters, as mothers, as husbands and wives, let's also campaign and encourage female care. Let's wear pink for the women of the world."
