Bahiana receives a leading psychologist in Latin America

Social Psychology and Theory of Conduct Seminar takes place next Saturday (28)

The Enrique Pichon Rivière Interdisciplinary Center for Group Studies holds, on September 28, the Social Psychology and Theory of Conduct Seminar, at the Cabula Academic Unit Convention Center, of the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. The event features as main speaker Ana Quiroga, director of the first school of Social Psychology founded by Enrique Pichon Rivière in Argentina, a relevant figure in Pichonian Social Psychology and a reference in Latin America.

Lasting seven hours, the seminar program will address the themes "Social Psychology and Theory of Conduct" and "Reflections in Operative Groups", which will be conducted by the speaker.

According to Ana Quiroga, “the objective of the investigation carried out by Pichonian social psychology is the understanding of the subject and, particularly, the instrumentalization for work in the field of mental health, which we consider a collective construction, a set of facts and relationships that are permanently in work, action, whether in a direction of development and growth or on the contrary, in circumstances of deterioration and damage in the different spheres and institutions of social life”.


Ana Quiroga

A social psychologist and one of the most important figures in Pichonian Social Psychology in Latin America, Ana Quiroga is the director of the Private School of Social Psychology in Buenos Aires. Last companion of Pichon-Rivière, she continued her thinking and collaborated with Pichon in the book “Psicologia da Vida Cotidiana”. Furthermore, it is responsible for some concepts related to Pichon's theory, such as the concept of Learning Matrices.
