Technical team from the laboratories of the Bahiana undergoes training

Employees from the teaching laboratories participated, from September 2nd to 6th, in the I Internal Training Meeting of the Technical Laboratory Team of Bahiana, whose activities were developed in the three academic units of the Bahiana.

The program included the lectures "Assessment of solutes and laboratory reagents", given by Prof. Erlon Rodrigues; “Biosafety”, with the coordinator of laboratories and professor of undergraduate and graduate courses, Dr. Diego Menezes; “Oral Hygiene”, presented by professionals from the company Odonto System and “Waste management and sterilization”, with Nurse Ana Paula Monteiro.

Training in basic information technology and a class in analytical chemistry and laboratory calculations were also carried out with the laboratory supervisor, Diogo Gonçalves. The program also included technical visits to the Instituto Médico Legal Nina Rodrigues and to the research centers of the Academic Unit Nazaré. On the last day, employees participated in the communication workshop: Talking is easy... getting along too, given by the technical manager of the Psicopedagógica Care Center (NAPP) Angélica Mendes and by the coordinator of People Development, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro. At the end of the meeting's schedule, employees received the new uniform.

“A week like this is seen by us as a time to reorganize the house, to promote learning, but in a relaxed way. It's the moment when the Bahiana keeps the dynamic always looking to all sides, be it administrative or academic. We are, in fact, realigning and strengthening ourselves to maintain our pace of work and receive our students and teachers", declared Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, also emphasizing the work of the Internal Accident Prevention Commission with the 11th SIPAT-Week Internal Workplace Accident Prevention, “for our employees, I think it was a different week, with all the teams making efforts, like CIPA, which did a beautiful, joyful job, but also a learning experience”.

For Angélica Mendes, moments such as the workshop and training sessions are enriching, as they value the employee, “it is in the exercise of dialogue that we learn. It is essential to promote this in work spaces. So, training and qualifications are precisely moments to exercise this dialogue, exchange ideas and listen to each other. It's a rich moment of expression where they can show how they think and who they are. This allows for an appreciation of the individual”.

For the laboratory assistant, Josedna Santos Lima, the week promoted several special moments for the employee. “I thought the week was fantastic, from day one. The programming involved several learnings, both in the sense of knowledge and in the sense of coexistence, the interpersonal. The part related to health was also fantastic, where we were able to perform physical activities, test blood glucose and hepatitis. So it was, at all times, dynamic, interactive, things were involved that only added to it. I'm sure we came out better, bigger and more passionate about Bahiana".

According to the laboratory coordinator at Bahiana, Prof. Dr. Diego Menezes, the meeting is part of a set of strategic actions that began in November 2012, when the board requested an action plan in order to modernize and improve the performance of the laboratories, in addition to valuing the sector's employees . "At that moment, we conducted interviews with each employee, an analysis of the environment was carried out, the working conditions were verified and the report of this study was presented to the direction of Bahiana, which decided to create a specific sector to take care of this segment, which is no longer linked to any undergraduate or graduate course. Together with the Human Resources sector, we carried out an assessment of the workforce in order to make better use of the potential of each one”.

The coordinator also says that the coordination of the laboratories started to participate in meetings with the faculty of the Bahiana, to promote the new format of valuing the worker and the structure, “a format to better meet the needs of the community Bahiana", Ends.
