More than 200 professors, including professors from the Bahiana, from UNEB and from public and private schools in Salvador, participated, on August 16th and 17th, in the IX Pedagogical Forum of Bahiana, held at the Cabula Academic Unit Convention Center. The organization of the event had the intense participation of the director of Bahiana, Prof. Dr. Maria Luisa Soliani, the coordinator of People Development, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, the pedagogical supervisors, members of the Pedagogical Care Center (NAPP) and various sectors of the school.

“The objective of the event is to mobilize teachers to reflect on their pedagogical practices. It is time to bring them new techniques, through guest speakers and to disseminate techniques that are already addressed by some professors at Bahiana”, explained the coordinator of the Institutional Program for Teacher Development (PROIDD), the professor of the Dentistry course, Sandra Brasil.

“Organizing this event was a very creative and very pleasurable experience, as it counted on the participation of many sectors of the institution, which enabled things to happen and made the event a success”, declared Prof. Sandra Brasil, coordinator of the IX Forum Pedagogical Bahiana.

This year, the forum brought as a guest Prof. Dr. Lea Anastasiou, one of the most important researchers and diffusers of new pedagogical processes throughout Brazil. The program included workshops given by Prof. Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani and by the professor of the Medicine course, coordinator of the Telemedicine and Telehealth Center at Bahiana (NUTESB) and the Master of Health Technologies, Prof. Dr. Marta Menezes.

In addition to the Pedagogical Forum, the teachers from Bahiana they rely on the continuous work of pedagogical supervision, which offers daily monitoring in the teaching/learning process and pedagogical support for the activities and relationships between students, teachers and technical-administrative staff.

On the first day of work, Professor Anastasiou worked with the participants in the workshop “Assessment by Skills” which, among other aspects, deepened issues such as skills worked in the curriculum of the courses; actions by teachers and students to build competences and their forms of monitoring or evaluation. “For me, participating in this workshop was very important. It changed my perspective on the issue of knowledge, knowing about skills, how to assess attitudes... it was very interesting and added a lot”, declared the coordinator of the Physiotherapy course, Prof. Luciana Bilitário.

“I found the experience extremely enriching. The teachers were calm, loose, they made interventions that indicate how much people are plugged into the subject. We have realized that these curricular changes to overcome the grid format, fragmented, where each one does their work towards situations where we have to work together, leads us to a challenging cooperative action”, explained Prof. Lea Anastasiou, emphasizing the importance of posture of humility that the teacher must have in the face of changes in the contemporary world. "Humility is in fact a necessary attitude in the educational process (...) to know that knowledge is historical and temporary and that what we most give to the student, when we take the class together with him, is not so much the content , but it's life,” he explained.

On the first day, the Team Based Learning (TBL) workshop was also held, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Marta Menezes. The teaching method is based on procedures for the development of study teams, in addition to expanding the ability to solve problems, streamlining the class and promoting group work, valuing discussion and the students' reflective and critical capacity. The workshop also had the support and participation of professors Ieda Aleluia and Bruno Gil, both from the Medicine course.

The event also provided participants with a new moment. With the theme “Which university do we want to be?”, the planning advisor, Francisco Ramalho presented the steps that the Bahiana has been developing for this purpose and the importance that the entire community of the institution know its Mission, Vision and Values, so that together they direct efforts to achieve the objective of the Bahiana to become a university.

To participate in Saturday morning, teachers had to buckle their seatbelts and take off at the BahianAgo Linhas Aéreas, bound for Paulo Freire Airport to meet the “teacher who marked your life?”. Received by the cabin manager, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, and the team of flight attendants, the 'passengers' were guided by the captains, Prof. Dr. Maria Luisa Soliani and Prof. Dr. Lea Anastasiou, with psychodramatic dynamics for elaborate the ideal of “Which teacher do we want to be?”, theme of the last workshop.

Like a kind of plane/time machine, the participants remembered the masters who went through their lives and who left lessons of “knowing how to do” the role of teacher.

The exchange of experiences was so productive that it culminated in a great celebration held at the end of the meeting. Each teacher was able to reflect on their planned goal: which teacher they want to be. This message was intended for his future students and sent in balloons released into the sky, in a kind of ceremony.

Golden butterfly

This year, for the first time, the traditional Borboleguim de Ouro award included two winners: Prof. Dr. Marta Menezes, former coordinator of the Medicine course, and Prof. Roseny Ferreira who also coordinated the Physiotherapy course in recent years .

Both were recognized by the institution for their tireless effort and dedication in the dissemination of knowledge, among students and professors, making their courses remain as references in Bahia and Brazil.

Created in 2010, the award is given during the Pedagogical Forum of Bahiana to professors who stood out for their collaboration in the construction of knowledge and the dissemination of knowledge, acting both within the institution and for the good of society.

“We know how to cover ourselves in the differences. We have people of many styles, some more 'travelers' and others more focused, and we understand our result in this that is complete, in a path we have traveled and the opportunity to do things, to be able to make mistakes and get it right, but always to make it work together." , declared Prof. Dr. Marta.
