The minister of the Superior Court of Justice and former inspector of the National Council of Justice (2010-2012), Eliana Calmon Alves, will be honored today by the Foundation Bahiana for the Development of Sciences, the entity that maintains the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. The ceremony will take place at 19:30 pm, at the Salão Nobre of the Cabula Academic Unit, located at Av. Silveira Martins, nº 3386 (in front of Hospital Roberto Santos). On the occasion, the minister will receive the Virgílio Damázio Medal of Merit, the highest honor granted by the institution.

The delivery of the medal will mark the end of the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, which began in May 2012. According to the director of Bahiana and general coordinator of the Foundation Bahiana for Science Development, Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, the choice of the minister's name was unanimous among the members of the Foundation's Board of Trustees. “Eliana was chosen because she is the Bahian personality who, at the moment, best represents in Brazil values and skills that are very expensive and important for an institution that seeks to train professionals and citizens committed to improving not only the population's health conditions, but also the world”, explains Dr. Maria Luisa.
