Teachers are awarded at an international congress on Pelvic Physiotherapy

Works are classified in 1st and 3rd places.

"Influence of positioning during urination. An electromyographic and urofluxometric evaluation" is the title of the study that received the 1st place at the I Congress of Pelvic Physiotherapy, which took place from March 7th to 9th, in Curitiba. The work was presented by the professor of the Physiotherapy course, Dr. Patrícia Lordêlo, co-author, together with the uropediatrician and professor of the Medicine course, Dr. Ubirajara Barroso, and the master's students of the graduate program at Bahiana Paulo Furtado, Daniela Minas and Juliana Menezes.

The 3rd place also went to a group of researchers from the Bahiana. Presented by Prof. Maria Luiza Veiga, the work "Assessment of perineal myoelectric activity in voluntary contraction and hypopressive gymnastics" is also co-authored by master's student Kely Franco, Prof. Roseny Ferreira, Prof. Alcina Teles and Prof. Patrícia Lordelo. 

 

Congress

The I International Congress of Pelvic Physiotherapy was attended by more than 350 professionals in the area, in addition to great national and international names, such as Prof. Bary Berghmans - Netherlands, Master of Health Sciences, PhD in Epidemiology, researcher at the Department of Epidemiology at Maastricht University and at the Department of Urology at Maastricht Hospital Medical Center; Prof. Loic Dabbadie - France, specialist in sexology, founder of the International School for the Reeducation of Pelvic Dysfunctions (France) and professor of urogynecology and Prof. Mikel Amostegui - Spain, specialist in manual therapy, obstetrical osteopathy and perineal re-education.

The Congress also had as a speaker Prof. Patrícia Lordêlo who, on the occasion, presented the theme “What is intimate aesthetics? Main performances and techniques used in intimate aesthetics”. In addition to being adjunct professor of the Physiotherapy course, the professor is part of the permanent faculty of the Graduate School of Stricto Sensu in Bahia. She is qualified at SickKids Hospital in Toronto and at Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario –CHEO, in Ottawa (Canada), in addition to being one of the founders and coordinator of the Center for Voiding Disorders in Children – CEDIMI.
