Among some of his magical inventions, the man, over time, could well have created an "expectativometer" to measure the level of excitement of a person facing a new situation. Let's imagine, then, that last Friday (25th), there was such a device at the Cabula Academic Unit, when a warm reception was held for the Novos da Bahiana. Surely he would have reached the highest level of his scale of expectations.

Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani welcomes the Novos da Bahiana

In addition to being welcomed by the director of the Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, for the People Development coordinator, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, for the coordinator of the Psychopedagogical Care Center (NAPP), Maria Angélica Godinho Mendes de Abreu and for the coordinators of each course, the new members of the community Bahiana were invited by the professor of Philosophy at UFBA, Dr. Saja Ramos, to reflect and philosophize on the theme: “Epoca of Change – Change of Epoch. Another order is possible”.

Among quotes from important thinkers of the XNUMXth century such as the Bahian geographer Milton Santos and the Slovenian philosopher and theorist Slavoj Zizek, Prof. Saja called his audience's attention to the liberation promoted by knowledge, as he boasted, “the classroom is not a cell”! And he went further, inviting everyone to philosophize with what he calls “Contemporaneity Provocations”. Among the questions that shot to those present: What am I doing with my only life? What am I doing with the only lives of people who pass through my only life? What am I letting others do with my only life? Why can't I let go of what makes me suffer?

Marcus Vinícius Figueiredo, Nursing course student

For the freshman in Nursing, Marcus Vinícius Carvalho Figueredo, 28, the answer was on the tip of his tongue: “I've been trying to get in here for a year and a half. It's my decision because I've already studied Physical Education and I'm coming from another institution, where I was studying Nursing”. If the question for Marcus were What am I doing with the only life of the people who pass through my only life? The answer would be “among the reasons that led me to want Nursing in Bahiana these are actions such as the Anjos da Enfermagem program, and I even volunteer at the Casa da Criança com Câncer”, he says.

Ananda Nacif, student of the Physiotherapy course

For the new student of the Physiotherapy course, Ananda Nacif, aged 18, expectations are high. Among the reasons for choosing the Bahiana she highlights “the way the institution treats the student with respect; the question of valuing the arts; the social programs... I feel my academic life starting now”, he declares.

But she says that success is not just the institution's responsibility. “Of course college helps a lot, but you have to be fine with yourself, otherwise you won't develop”, he philosophizes.
