Former students meeting celebrates 40 years of the Occupational Therapy course

Former students, students, professors of the Occupational Therapy course, course coordinators and employees of the Bahiana filled room 206 of the Classroom III of the Academic Unit Brotas, on the night of last Monday, October 22nd, when the 5th Occupational Therapy Former Students Meeting of Bahiana, when the 40th anniversary of the creation of the course and the 14th anniversary of the Occupational Therapy Service was also celebrated.

The event's success proves that the course is more active and alive than ever, even starting to reintegrate the 2013.1 Training Selection Process. "We have long dreamed of seeing this audience as full as it is today, with students, alumni, teachers and special people who have been part of our history," declared the head of ceremonies, alumnus and currently a member of the faculty. of TO, Moniere Caroso.

The program began with the class on the nostalgia of undergraduates in 2012.2 which honored colleagues and professors for their trajectory within the undergraduate course. The former students, who graduated in 2002, Adriana Balaguer, Carina Pimentel and Patrícia Trindade gave an account of their experiences, presenting their professional histories in the area. The former students present received a tribute from the Choir of Bahiana who also participated in the celebration.

Then began the ceremony to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the course, which was attended by the director of the Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Soliani, from the vice-director, Dr. Ênio Maynard, from the coordinator of People Development, Prof. Luiza Ribeiro, as well as guests such as the psychiatrist and founding director of CETAD, Dr. Antônio Nery, from the president from Crefito, Dr. José Roberto Borges, from the president of the Brazilian Association of Occupational Therapists, José Naum Mesquita, among other authorities linked to this area of ​​health.

Guests participated in the ceremony by delivering plaques honoring former students, teachers and professionals who stand out in their performance for the development of Occupational Therapy in Bahia.

This year, for the first time, the Former Students Meeting took place in parallel to the 22st Meeting of Occupational Therapists SUS-Bahia, held on October 23 and XNUMX at the initiative of the Health Department of the State of Bahia and CREFITO, with the support of Bahiana and UFBA.

Created in 1998, the Occupational Therapy Service of the Teaching-Care Clinic of Bahiana provides assistance aimed at the rehabilitation of people with motor or cognitive limitations, with a view to their social and professional reintegration.

In it, children and adolescents with changes in the development process are attended to; adults aged between 18 and 65 years who need therapeutic follow-up to prevent the treatment of diseases or in situations that compromise functional capacity, in the case of the elderly.

The space holds the curricular internship, being the favorable environment for Occupational Therapy students to develop, in practice, the knowledge acquired in the classroom, theoretically.
