Share

Academics, professors and employees were united on the 27th and 28th of September to celebrate knowledge. This was the theme of XII Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana held at the Cabula Academic Unit and which, this year, had the participation of members of the State University of Bahia, marking the expansion of the event.

The official opening took place on the morning of last Friday, September 28, in the auditorium and was attended by the director of Bahiana, Prof. Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, who, in her speech, presented a bit of the institution's 60-year history to those present, including high school students from Colégio Estadual Roberto Santos. The coordinator of People Development, Luiza Ribeiro, the coordinator and vice-coordinator of Postgraduate Studies, Research and Extension, Dr. Kátia Sá and Prof. Carolina Pedroza, coordinators of the undergraduate courses, professors and employees, also participated.

“Stimulate scientific production and celebrate knowledge by presenting to our own community and to other groups present here are some of the objectives proposed by the Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana. In addition, we develop social responsibility actions with groups of children, adolescents and the elderly, with whom we develop health promotion and education activities”, declared Dr. Maria Luisa Soliani, celebrating the success of this 12th edition in line with the 60th anniversary of Bahiana.

Also in the auditorium, the program included the presentation of the Tutorial Education Program of the Dentistry courses, conducted by students Camila Nobre and Rafaela Donadoni, and Biomedicine, by student Caio Vieira.

On the occasion, he was also made aware of all the actions of the Angels of Nursing Project that in the Bahiana it is coordinated by the professor of the Nursing course, Thaís Calazans. "This is the fourth year of the Project here at Bahiana. We focus on children with cancer and we work, through playful language, on health education”, explains the teacher. A small demonstration was performed by the characters Bibi, Espuleta and Pimentinha who sang and danced involving the entire audience.

As in previous editions, airline tickets were raffled for students registered at the MCC for participation in congresses throughout the country. This year, the winners were Nursing students Ana Karla Santana Santos and Tássia Rodrigues with the work “The treatment of cancer and its emotional effects: a challenge for Nursing”, supervised by Professor Sandra Portela and Niara da Silva Menezes Arapiraca and Marlize Oliveira Januário with the study “Necrotizing Fasceitis: a case report”, supervised by Professor Carina Oliveira.

“I am very proud to know that we are contributing to the development of people as citizens and professionals. I believe in the training project that the Bahiana proposes and the MCC, in addition to being a space for the integration of knowledge, the exercise of the practice of training, it is a moment of integration of people", comments Angélica Mendes, manager of the Psychopedagogical Care Center (NAPP), responsible for carrying out the MCC .

The training process also caught the attention of the communication consultant at Bahiana, Margot Soliani, who this year visited MCC for the first time. “I was impressed with the PET students. As they are concerned with the social and how this is a reflection of the formation of Bahiana. This is a fundamental question for the XNUMXst century, as it is about sustainability: studying science for the community and changing the reality of these people”, he said.

Panels
This year, 201 posters and 138 oral presentations were presented. There were 11 short courses, four workshops and the health fair had 15 stands that housed Academic Leagues, projects and departments of the School.

The presentation of panels is welcomed by students. “By analyzing the other posters, we can compare them with ours and see what we can improve”, is the opinion of Brysa Mariana, a 6th semester student of Biomedicine.

His colleague, Jessica Almeida, agrees and says that “it is an opportunity to delve into a subject that I would see superficially if I studied only in the subject. What drives us to produce scientific articles”.

The development of the oral presentation was the point addressed by the member of the League of Maternal-Fetal Diseases, Camila Oliveira. “In addition to exchanging knowledge, we can exercise oral presentation, which is so important in academic life for participation in congresses and scientific events”, he emphasizes.

Book
The Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana it was also the setting for the launch of the book Education in Health in the Community – Pedagogical elements of an interdisciplinary practice that brings together articles by several professors from Bahiana from experiences with the Candeal Program. The publication is organized by the program coordinator, Prof. Maria Antonieta Nascimento Araújo, and has a preface by Dr. Maria Luisa Soliani, director of Bahiana. “We are ending a cycle, putting our experience with this story beyond orality”, declared Antonieta.
