Program Benefits

CMIRA is a unique initiative in Brazil that emphasizes the development of skills aimed at the individual health needs of children and adolescents, women, adults and the elderly, with a focus on patient care. In addition, the program works to prioritize problems and clinical management, according to principles of efficiency, effectiveness, efficacy, quality of care and safety. Among other differentials, the student also has the possibility of carrying out practical internships at Hospital Sírio-Libanês and at international institutions that are partners in the program.

The program uses the methodology of Team Based Learning (TBL - Team Based Learning), with a workload of 180 hours and takes place through face-to-face classes with interaction, via videoconference, with professors from Hospital Sírio-Libanês and other institutions renowned in the health sector. The student is also given access to a database with more than 40 self-assessment tests and 8 commented questions from the main medical residency institutions in Brazil. Classes will take place at Bahiana, in the Academic Unit Brotas, CMIRA's local hub in Bahia.

Team Based Learning - TBL

Developed by Dr. Larry K Michaelsen, Phd in Organizational Psychology (University of Michigan), TBL is a procedure-based teaching methodology for developing study teams to improve the quality of student learning. In addition, the method expands problem solving skills, streamlines the class and promotes teamwork, valuing discussion and the students' reflective and critical capacity.
