Can come
that the house is big
And it's all ours
let's clean the hall
for a better parade
let's take care of the harmony
of our evolution
The unit will be born
the new age
The unit will be born
The new...

Yes, a lot of news is marking the beginning of the academic semester 2012.2 of the undergraduate courses at Bahiana. As the words of the composer Gonzaguinha say, "... from the unity, the novelty will be born...". Now, students of Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Psychology and Biomedicine will be more united and concentrated in the Academic Units Cabula and Brotas. From this semester onwards, at the facilities in Nazaré, the Research Center of Bahiana, space for the work of the School's research groups, as well as the institution's general archive.

Then, Angélica Mendes, technical responsible for the Psychopedagogical Care Center, addressed the Novos da Bahiana, welcoming them. “We are here, on the first day of class, to celebrate with the students, helping them to get used to the institution, in this new phase of their lives”, he declared.

The Teaching-Care Clinics of Bahiana (Brotas and Cabula) were presented by its director, Dr. Eliana de Paula, who called attention to the participation of students in health services that are provided to the community, through curricular internships.

Bahiana Citizen
Another novelty at this semester's Reception for Freshmen was the launch of the social responsibility action Bahiana Citizen. The initiative aims to integrate students, teachers and employees in various social projects.

The first activity of the Bahiana Citizen will be the realization of thematic weeks of donations that take place from the 23rd of July, with collection points in the Academic Units Brotas and Cabula: Beans and Rice Week - donation of non-perishable food; Wardrobe Week - donation of clothes and shoes; Home Sweet Home Week - donation of household items and cleaning materials and the Children's Week - donation of children's clothes and shoes, books and toys.

The thematic weeks are linked to the Candeal Program, an interdisciplinary pedagogical practice with permanent Health Education groups in the community, integrating professors and students from undergraduate courses.

All the material collected during the thematic weeks will be delivered to the families on Rua Amazonas, located in Cabula, who are served by the Candeal Program. Deliveries will take place during the Health Fair, which takes place on August 30, and will feature prevention and health education actions and integration with the community, with the participation of students participating in the Candeal Program. “We've been looking for a way to improve our community for a long time. We are looking for partnerships and today we are proud to have the Bahiana as a partner. It is the first faculty to support us and, with that, the doors began to open for other institutions to see us and help us”, declared Eriosvaldo França, president of the Association of Residents of Rua Amazonas de Baixo.

Students
To warm up the reception, the Coral da Bahiana performed, at which time new students were invited to join the group led by conductor Carlos Veiga. To participate, just show up at the rehearsal that always takes place on Tuesdays, at 17:XNUMX, at the Academic Unit Brotas. More information, in the Human Resources department (71) 2101 1929.

The first meeting was also opportune for students to meet the managers and employees of the various departments of the Bahiana such as the NAPP, the Pedagogical Supervision, the Academic Secretariat, the Communication and Marketing and Institutional Relations Nucleus. In addition, those present watched a video telling a bit of the history of the Bahiana who has just completed 60 years of creation, with the launch of the Medicine course in May 1952.

Freshman in the Medicine course, Gustavo Odwyer, 20 years old, confesses that when he was younger, he didn't think about studying medicine, “but after I went through the experience in the Formative Selection Process, I felt more attracted”.

The dream of becoming a dentist never left the 24-year-old Thamires Martinez. Graduated in Law, the lawyer says that she just lacked the courage to fulfill an old desire. “So far I'm surprising myself with the Bahiana. I found the institution very organized, the warm welcome, a wonderful infrastructure, and I thought their involvement with the social cause was very good”, he declares.

The action Bahiana Citizen also captivated the freshman of the Psychology course, Adriana Santana, who attended the reception accompanied by her daughter, Ju Santana. "I intend to be a collaborator of the social actions of the Bahiana”. Like Thamires, Adriana says that she is fulfilling “a dream that was dormant, because dreams don't die. Since I was 18 I wanted to study Psychology, but ended up graduating in Arts. So, I am very happy and satisfied to be part of this team”. She is already making plans to welcome her daughter at the Bahiana, at the end of the year: “Ju will also study psychology here at Bahiana! "

Bahiana congratulates its new students. Be welcome!
