Students from Bahiana serve the community of Brotas.

More than 100 students from Biomedicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medicine, Psychology, Dentistry and Occupational Therapy courses at Bahiana participated, last Saturday, May 26, in the Health Fair of the Teaching-Assistance Ambulatory of Bahiana that took place in the Parish of Our Lady of Brotas, from 8 pm to 16 pm.

Divided into groups, the students, supervised by teachers, performed various medical consultations and promoted education and health promotion activities. Among the services provided to the community, blood pressure measurements were carried out with guidance on the prevention and control of arterial hypertension in 188 people; 18 capillary blood glucose tests and 226 anti-hepatitis C tests.

For the calculation of the Body Mass Index (BMI) - for the prevention and control of obesity; rapid test for the diagnosis of Hepatitis C and recreational activities for children and adolescents - 230 people were evaluated, 43 men and 187 women. Women were also seen for the vaginal cytology exam, whose results were delivered on May 26, at ADAB/Brotas.

The project “Ver Melhor”, from Hospital Humberto Castro Lima /IBOPC, also participated with a group of residents who underwent visual acuity exams.
