CMIRA - extended registrations

Bahiana offers a Sírio-Libanês university extension program.

Enrollments for the CMIRA outreach program, at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, have been extended until March 31th. Applications can be made on the website of the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital or Bahiana . students of Bahiana will have priority in vacancies and 10% discount. Students will be able to attend classes for free during the first two weeks.

The offer of vacancies to Bahia is the result of a partnership between the Bahiana and the Hospital Sírio-Libanês, an unprecedented agreement in the state. Aimed at medical students from the 3rd year of graduation, CMIRA is one of the main university extension programs at the renowned hospital in São Paulo, focused on the development of skills and assessment of medical competence, in order to promote a practice of excellence in quality of patient care and safety.

The opening of the program was held last week, at the Academic Unit Brotas, with the presentation of a video conference (click here to watch) who welcomed Dr. Roberto Padilha, director of the Research Institute of Hospital Sírio-Libanês.

Program Benefits
CMIRA is a unique initiative in Brazil that emphasizes the development of skills aimed at the individual health needs of children and adolescents, women, adults and the elderly, with a focus on patient care. In addition, the program works to prioritize problems and clinical management, according to principles of efficiency, effectiveness, efficacy, quality of care and safety. Among other differentials, the student also has the possibility of carrying out practical internships at Hospital Sírio-Libanês and at international institutions that are partners in the program.

The program uses the Team Based Learning (TBL) methodology - Team Based Learning), with a workload of 180 hours and takes place through in-person classes with interaction, via videoconference, with professors from Hospital Sírio-Libanês and other renowned institutions in the health sector. Students are also given access to a database with more than 40 self-assessment tests and 8 commented questions from the main medical residency institutions in Brazil. Classes will take place at Bahiana, Academic Unit Brotas, CMIRA's local hub in Bahia.


Team Based Learning - TBL
 Developed by Dr. Larry K Michaelsen, Phd in Organizational Psychology (University of Michigan), TBL is a procedure-based teaching methodology for developing study teams to improve the quality of student learning. In addition, the method expands problem solving skills, streamlines the class and promotes teamwork, valuing discussion and the students' reflective and critical capacity.
