The success of a student, as well as a professional, depends, in large part, on their effort, involvement and commitment. This was no different with the psychologist who has just graduated from Bahiana, Camila Pedreira and Ataíde, who has just been approved in the selection for the university residency in Hospital Psychology, at the University of São Paulo – USP. According to her, the Bahiana contributed to its success insofar as the undergraduate course curriculum offers internships, enabling clinical practice, in addition to theoretical subjects that help to develop the formation of a professional committed to the social. How will your work at the USP residency be?
The residency I will do at USP will be in Hospital Psychology in Cardiology, at Incor (Institute of the Heart), which they call Professional Improvement in the Health Area - Hospital das Clínicas, Faculty of Medicine of USP. It is a residence with a period of one year and a workload of 40 hours per week, working in the most diverse units of the hospital, such as the infirmary, emergency room and hospitalization. Pre- and post-surgical patients and families, children and adults will be assisted with the guidance of psychoanalysis. To enter the residency, there is a selection with two stages: the first with an objective test and the second was practical, with subjective questions, group dynamics and interview.

What are your expectations regarding the period at USP?
My expectations are the best! After all, this is an excellent institution that has tradition and experience with qualified professionals.

Do you have any intention of pursuing an academic career? Do you think of any topic for the object of study?
I do think about the academic career, having as its object of study psychoanalysis and the role of psychology in the hospital, in health.

In which aspects the Psychology course of Bahiana helped you in this approval?
Bahiana has a focus on health, so it prepared me for the selection of residency in a health area. There were internships and theoretical subjects that helped me with this direction of the faculty.

At what points, activities such as the Scientific Exhibition, the Candeal Program and the TCC itself help in the formation of a professional who is more concerned with the well-being of society?
To work in psychology is to work in health and in the social sphere, in this way, every internship, discipline, scientific event and theoretical and practical work will be fundamental to develop, in the psychology student, fundamental skills for a good practice in the profession. This exercise is based on ethics and social commitment.
