SOCIAL WHEEL

A round of conversation with the participation of actors from the feature film “Capitães de Areia” and students from public schools in Salvador marked the afternoon of November 9th, at the Cine Teatro Jorge Amado, at Shopping Itaigara. It was the 1st Social Wheel, an action created and developed by the students of the Tutorial Dentistry Education Program at Bahiana (PET). The objective of the first round was to promote a discussion about the sociocultural and humanistic aspects portrayed in the aforementioned work, by the writer Jorge Amado.

 "The event is characterized as a PET extension activity and, although it is not directly related to dentistry, it aims to develop a critical spirit in the student and promote the awakening of a reflective look at our reality", explains the dentistry student and member from PET, Alena Medrado.

According to the student, the Social Wheel will be held every six months. For the last event, the group had the support of the History teacher, Ricardo Carvalho, who was responsible for raising awareness among public high school students, aged between 15 and 19 years.

PET Dentistry currently has 14 students from different semesters, including 12 scholarship holders and 2 volunteers. “PET carries out other activities of a social nature. We recently held the II PET Day of Art and Culture at the Cabula Academic Unit. All students also participate in activities and develop research projects in the field of Dentistry. In addition, we participate in teaching activities, such as promoting short courses, workshops, tutoring, etc.”, says Alena.
