VI Brazilian Symposium on Sickle Cell Disease

From October 18th to 20th, Fortaleza-CE was the Brazilian capital for discussion and research on Sickle Cell Disease and the Bahiana could not fail to be present. Thus, the student of Biomedicine and president of the Academic League on Sickle Cell Disease, Flávia Lacerda, participated in the VI Brazilian Symposium on Sickle Cell Disease, where she presented a banner about the activities developed by the League.

According to Flávia, "the LADF was a success, in addition to being the first league in Brazil to study sickle cell disease, even after more than 100 years of discovering the disease. It took a while, but it came out!", he celebrates. She says that the League aroused the interest of many professionals in the field in joining the study group, even generating an invitation to found an extension in Feira de Santana.

Symposium
Among the main topics discussed at the symposium were the National Program for Comprehensive Care for People with Sickle Cell Disease; Advances in Sickle Cell Disease: 100 years after the first diagnosis; Multidisciplinary approach to Sickle Cell Disease; New Therapies in Sickle Cell Disease, among others. The event was held by the Ceará Hematology and Hemotherapy Center (HEMOCE).
