Acute complications of diabetes mellitus, acute complications of thyroid dysfunction and acute adrenal insufficiency in adults and children are some of the topics that will be discussed next Saturday, October 8th, during the Endocrine Emergencies Symposium which takes place in the auditorium Altamirando Santana, at the Associação Bahiana of Medicine. The event is organized by the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism - Regional Bahia (SBEM), with the support of the Academic Leagues of Endocrinology and Metabolism (LAEM/Bahiana) and Academic League of Endocrinology of Bahia (LAEB/UFBA).

According to Dr. Maria de Lourdes Lima de Souza e Silva, endocrinologist, member of the SBEM board and advisor professor at LAEM, “endocrine diseases are common, especially diabetes mellitus and thyroid diseases. Potentially lethal endocrine emergencies must be known to every physician, especially endocrinologists and those who work in emergencies, being essential for their training, regardless of specialty."

The event is aimed at both physicians and medical students, and information for making registrations is available on the telephones: (71) 3332.5451 (SBEM) and 3240.6388 (DAGAZ EVENTOS).
