Bahiana innovates once again and launches health channel on the internet

In yet another innovative action, the Bahiana has just launched, in partnership with Convergence Works (a company in the Information Technology segment), Correio da Bahia and the IBahia portal, the website iHealth Bahia. Already accessible to the public this Monday, the space brings together the most diverse areas of health, providing the user with information that promotes improvements in the quality of life and well-being of the Bahian population. With light language and accessible to the general public, the new website presents topics such as Complementary Health, Mental Health and Family, Prevention and Well-Being, Rehabilitation, Special Topics and a session for general knowledge: Learning about health.

at the address www.isaudebahia.com.br, the public will have articles, infographics, commented news, videos and podcasts, having as source the main names of health in Salvador and Brazil, with the vast majority of professionals connected to the Bahiana. According to the director of the School, Prof. Dr. Maria Luísa Carvalho Soliani, “the Bahiana it knows that it has a very great social responsibility linked to the dissemination of scientific knowledge, beyond its walls. Today, the Internet provides tools capable of taking what we produce in the academic environment much further, without geographic limits.”

To give greater credibility, in addition to having duly accredited columnists, the site has a medical editor, the neurologist from Bahia Gustavo Sampaio, who pointed out as a great driving force for the idealization of the project the lack of credible health-oriented content that, at the same time, catch up with the language of the population. “The internet provides access to information never seen before and the main issue is no longer where to find information, but which information to select. We observed, in a comparative study between websites available with health information, that where there was credible information, it was excessively technical, generally aimed at health professionals"

Dr. Maria Luísa complements and points out as a differential the high level of the professionals involved. In addition, the proposal of the new space is not to work like the famous Dr. Google, that is, people want to know about health-related issues and think that, instead of looking for a doctor, they are looking for answers to symptoms and diseases in the largest search engine in the world. “iSaúde will not offer any services that can replace the work of the physician or other healthcare professional. Without a correct anamnesis, that is, without the patient telling their story in detail and reporting their problem to a professional prepared to ask the necessary questions and, more than that, without a well-done physical examination, which can only be carried out in person, there is no Google that can make a diagnosis and propose a really effective and appropriate therapy for this patient”, explains Dr. Maria Luísa.

The idea is really to provide greater access to information, helping both the doctor, who can indicate the site for their patients to seek information, and the patient who will acquire knowledge about their health in a simple and objective way.
