Physiotherapy of Bahiana is featured in research

Studies developed by Physiotherapy research groups from Bahiana they are featured in international publications and conferences.

Research and Extension has increasingly gained space among the faculty of the Bahiana. The Physiotherapy course teachers have been a good example of this. This semester alone, professors lectured at international conferences and had articles published in world-class journals.

As an example, teacher Cristiane Dias will participate in the EPS Montreal International Forum on Intensive Care Medicine that takes place on June 1st and 02nd, in Montreal, Quebec – Canada and its article Circulatory response to a 50-m walk in the coronary care unit in acute coronary syndrome, written with five other physical therapists, entered the TOP 10 of the BioMedLib Virtual Library, among the best scientific articles ever published.

Speaking of publishing articles, professor Luciana Bilitario had her article published Is there an association between venous diseases and the level of physical activity in young people? in the Revista Fisioterapia em Movimento, Vol 24 (1), edition January to March 2011. Internationally, the coordinator of Postgraduate Studies, Research and Extension, Prof. Dr. Kátia Sá and researchers and professors Carla Mesquita Pereira, Rafael C. Souza, Abrahão F. Baptista and Inês Lessa had the article Knee pain prevalence and associated factors in a Brazilian Population Study published in the February issue of the scientific journal Pain Medicine, one of the most important in the world when it comes to the study of pain.

The study Right cerebral hemisphere injury in an independent predictor of falls in stroke patients, by teacher Elen Beatriz Carneiro Pinto, was accepted and will be presented orally at the XX European Stroke Conference that takes place from May 24th to 27th, in Hamburg, Germany.

Prof. Dr. Patrícia Lordelo and the CEDIMI team had two papers accepted at the 22nd Congress of the European Society for Pediatric Urology in Copenhagen. The work Prevalence of enuresis in lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD) in Children and adolescents with sicke cell disease (SCD) also co-authored by the Medicine professor at Bahiana and coordinator of CEDIMI, Dr. Ubirajara Barroso, and researchers Mariana Portocarrero, Marcelo Portocarrero and Mariana Sobral.

At the state level, professors Cristane Dias and Luciana Bilitário participated, between April 20 and 30, in the I Symposium on Intensive Physical Therapy at IBR – Hospital, in Vitória da Conquista.
