SciFinder web available to all Journal Portal users

Institutions that previously accessed the database through software can now access it via the Internet.

It is available to institutions that use the Journal Portal who have access to scifinder the web version of this research tool in the area of ​​Chemistry, developed by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS). In addition to ensuring direct access to Scifinder resources over the Internet – the previous version depended on installing a CD. The new search interface allows, for example, to save answer sets and export analysis data in Excel and PDF.

To access the SciFinder web (http://scifinder.cas.org), the researcher needs to make a personal record on a computer connected to the institution's network. During registration, the user must inform his institutional email, which will be registered as a username to access SciFinder. To complete this process, it is necessary to access a confirmation message, which will be sent to the e-mail informed by the researcher. 

About SciFinder
The SciFinder tool is aimed at teachers and students in the areas of Life Sciences and Materials Science, covering subjects related to Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Food, Materials, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Textiles, Nuclear Technology and Geology . It gathers six databases: Caplus (Articles, Patents, Theses etc.), Medline (Health Information), Registry (Chemical Substances), Casreact (Chemical Reactions), Chemcats (Product Suppliers) and Chemlist (Regulatory Lists).

The tool offers researchers a Thesaurus and a thesaurus, refining options, the possibility of using Boolean operators in searches, among other features.
