More than an event focused on research and scientific initiation, the tenth edition of the Cultural and Scientific Exhibition of Bahiana was established as a great party that promoted, in addition to the exchange of knowledge, the integration between students, professors, employees and society. The opening took place last Friday morning (24/09), at 08:30 am, in the auditorium of the Convention Center of the Bahiana, Cabula Academic Unit.

The activities began with the presentation of high school students participating in the Institutional Junior Scientific Initiation Program of the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Bahia, guided by monitors, students and teachers from Bahiana.

The presentation of their research was carried out by students from public high schools, Talita Cristina Nunes and Rodrigo dos Santos (Biomedicine); Camila Jesus Santos and Vinícius Cruz (Nursing); Roseli Lima Nunes, Verusca Cruz, Mateus Chaves, Franciele Silva (Dentistry); Luana Sales, Bruno Bernardo, Marina Nascimento and Gabriele Trancoso (Medicine).

The presentation was marked by the presence of the professor of the Biomedicine course, Diego Menezes, also a former student of the public high school, former PIBIC Júnior, former student of Bahiana and doctoral student at UFBA. "This initiative proves that the Bahiana has a concern with training. The teacher trains the (undergraduate) student and the latter, in turn, contributes to the education of high school students, who multiply knowledge for those they live with”, declared Menezes.

Another strong point of the opening was the drama performed by students from all courses at the Bahiana, members of the Interdisciplinary Monitoring Program Corações da Bahiana. The play addressed all the care that a roadkill victim receives from health professionals, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary work.

Finally, two pairs of air tickets to be used for participation in congresses were drawn. Students with work enrolled in the Mostra and their respective supervisors participated. The papers “Seroprevalence and molecular detection of human herpesvirus 8 in liver transplant recipients in the state of Bahia” were considered, which had as advisor Professor Andréa Mendonça Gusmão Cunha and students Martha Santana da Silva and André Cavalcanti, from the Biomedicine course; and the work “Evaluation of an alternative finishing and polishing technique for composite resin”, supervised by professor Viviane Maria Barreto de Oliveira and carried out by student Luize Maria Neri Pirôpo, from the Dentistry course.

To further promote integration both between courses and with society, and to promote a social responsibility initiative, MCC10 received several invited institutions, including elementary and high schools, community groups of women and the elderly.

Early in the morning, 19 children aged between 09 and 10 years from the 3rd year of elementary school at Escola Municipal da Engomadeira participated in an Educational Gymkhana, with the Nursing teacher, Thais Calasans, and had lunch at the Bahiana. After lunch, they participated in playful activities coordinated by dentistry students that aimed to promote oral health. The activities ended with a visit to the brushodrome, where they were able to put into practice what they had learned.
