A wound on the foot, with great difficulty in healing, and gingivitis caught the attention of Mr. Oriosvaldo's wife who, on the basis of her insistence, took him to the nearest health post. Once there, he was welcomed by a multidisciplinary health team with representatives from the areas of nursing, medicine, dentistry and biomedicine. Diagnosis: Diabetes. But, due to his stubbornness, Mr. Oriosvaldo did not return to treat the wound, nor to look for the results of the exams. Anyway, there was a worsening of the condition which led to his foot amputated.

At this time, he was welcomed by a broader team, including a physiotherapist, occupational therapist and psychologist. The idea was to rehabilitate Mr. Oriosvaldo so that he could lead a normal life, regaining autonomy and self-esteem.

The trajectory of this patient was nothing but fiction. But it could be true. The staging of this story was the way that the students of Bahiana, members of the Interdisciplinary Monitoring Program Corações da Bahiana, found to present to the community present at the 11th Health and Citizenship Fair of the 1st Baptist Church of Graça, last August 14th, the risks and care that the diabetes patient must have.

Students participated in the experience: Ângela Santana (Psychology), Cinthia Rocha (Nursing), Tainá Bulhões (Dentistry), Thalita Madeira (Occupational Therapy), Bárbara de Matos (Nursing), Anderson Suzart (Biomedicine), Tammy Marques (Biomedicine), Daniele Rezende (Physiotherapy) and Thamillys Figueiredo Andrade (Medicine). Next, medical students Paula Alves and Viviam Sampaio opened a space for debate, clarifying doubts and presenting more information.

The participation of the Hearts of Bahiana at the Fair there was also the presence of workstations, set up according to each course, in which health care and tests were carried out. Check out the photos.
