A diverse audience of students, professionals and researchers in the areas of physical education and physiotherapy gathered, throughout the 21st of September, in the auditorium of the Convention Center of Campus Cabula, to participate in the IV Physical Activity Forum, Health Promotion and Quality of Life, an initiative of the Physical Education course of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

With the theme "Use of technologies in sports, physical activity and health", the event opened with the Symposium "From rehabilitation to high performance: a look at technology in the control of variables in exercise", coordinated by the professor at Bahiana Me. Ciro Oliveira Queiroz, with the participation of teachers Me. Francisco Tiago Oliveira de Oliveira, who addressed the topic "Application of technologies in cardiac rehabilitation, and Leandro Silva, with the topic "Artial fibrillation and physical exercise in athletes and heart patients: which approach in the face of this arrhythmia?".

The second symposium, coordinated by prof. Me. Paulo Rodrigo Aristides, brought the main theme "Muscle-tendon adaptations to physical exercise, from healthy to pathological tissue", with lectures by Professor Vinícius Galvão on "Prevention of muscle-tendon injuries: from assessment to prescription" and by the physiotherapist and researcher Mariana Barcellos Machado, with the theme "Treatment of muscle-tendon injuries: technological applications and current evidence".

The forum also brought to the institution important names in the area, such as professor and researcher Richard Diego Leite, who gave the conference "Continuous and intermittent prescription methods and muscle adaptations to training".

In the afternoon, those enrolled were able to participate in three short courses, and the program ended with the conference "Physical activity, sedentary behavior and its outcomes in women's health, with professor Francisco José Gondim Pitanga. The program ended with the release from the book "Physical Education in Women's Health", co-authored by the coordinator of the Physical Education course at Bahiana, prof. Dr. Clarcson Plácido Conceição dos Santos, and prof. Mother Ciro Oliveira Queiroz.

"This year, we provided opportunities for the discussion of themes with different approaches, since our central focus, in this edition, was technologies in the area of physical activity and sport science. The highlight was the possibility that we had to bring teachers from abroad to dealing with approaches focused on technologies, mediating every part that involves the control of physical exercise in different populations", emphasizes prof. Clarkson.

According to him, the forum made it possible for both students from Bahiana how other professionals who had already graduated could expand the discussions focused on the central theme. "This allows us to advance in the conceptual precepts of applicability in relation to sport science and, above all, also discuss the use of evidence-based practice. We reinforce, with this, the idea that decision-making based on findings with greater scientific evidence from the literature reinforces our practice, our daily lives and optimizes the result of physical activity", he concludes.
