Young people from Colégio Oficina know the Bahiana for the School at School Project

Meeting featured interactive classes and activities.

An afternoon of learning and exchange of knowledge marked the school at school on the 29th of August, with the students of the first year of high school at Colégio Oficina. Students were invited to visit the Cabula Campus of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública and also participated in Biomedicine classes.

The Escola na Escola project aims to strengthen ties with students and teachers from secondary schools in Salvador, providing an experience in the institution's environment. During the visit, environments from the Bahiana such as the technological park, green areas, laboratories and libraries. The idea is to reduce the distance between secondary and higher education levels, through the exchange of knowledge between teachers, highlighting the role of the teacher of the proposing school as the main protagonist of the relationship between their school and Bahiana.

The coordinator of People Development, Luiza Ribeiro, opened the meeting and explained to the young people how the institution's courses and the public and private health services provided by the Teaching-Assistance Clinic of the Bahiana (ADAB) and the Dental Clinic of Bahiana. The coordinator of the Biomedicine course, Geraldo Ferrado, also welcomed the visitors: “It is a very happy moment to have the students with us. I really like Oficina and it's an honor to receive them”.

From the beginning of the tour, the students showed excitement about the activities to be carried out. Thaís Araújo, Biology teacher at Colégio Oficina, was accompanying his students and spoke about Oficina's teaching proposal: “Our school proposes that young people leave the commonplace and learn about the practice of the content that is taught in the classroom. It is very gratifying that they are here and discover the charms of the university space”.

The students were divided into three groups, and there was a rotation of classes on the area of ​​cytology taught by Biomedicine professors at Bahiana. In the computer lab, teacher Théssika Araújo taught students how to identify organelles on a virtual interactive platform.

      
Professor Everton da Silva promoted a practical activity in the institution's laboratory, where students learned to observe cells under a microscope. Student from Colégio Oficina, Victor Peixoto, was very excited about the experience. “I found it very educational and had a lot of fun. I've always liked Biological Sciences, so everything I learned here was very enriching for my education”, he said.

Several dynamic teaching methods were proposed in the afternoon. Professor Lúcio Barbosa used everyday examples to explain how the cell wall works: “It is very important for students to get to know new areas and understand biological processes from different perspectives. In this way, they can apply what they learn not only in their academic life, but also in their daily lives”.
