In its 9th edition and with the theme “Fraternity: seek unity and balance in everything”, the Youth for Peace Festival was celebrated at the School Bahiana of Public Health Medicine, Cabula campus, on the 28th of July. The event, which took place from 9:20 am to XNUMX:XNUMX pm, was broadcast live over the internet and was designed to raise the awareness of young people through fraternization moments that involved prayer, music and art. Young people from various parts of Brazil were present, who reserved the Sunday to experience the festival and enjoy the performances of artists such as Pedro Pondé (BA), Banda Nazirê (CE), Séo Fernandes (BA), Biorki (SP), Gabriela Carmo (BA). ), Igor Salify (BA), Prem Jitendra (ARG), Fe Lira (BA), Maciel Bernardo (BA) and graffiti artist Éder Muniz (BA).

Heide Costa, one of the organizers of the event and representative of the youth group in Salvador, explains that the festival is one of the initiatives of the Youth for Peace Campaign and is based on peace among young people, not for profit. “The proposal is for young people to reconnect with their inner essence. Therefore, the selection of music, art and food also contributes to this moment of reconnection. It is also worth mentioning that the action is free from alcohol and other drugs", stresses the organizer, who explains about the choice of venue: "we have long thought of establishing a link with a university, as its environment of young people, thoughts and productions they have everything to do with building the new humanity we believe in”.

"It's an activity that Bahiana has every interest in promoting it, since it aims to discuss the topic of peace with the youth who are the target audience of various social projects of the institution", stresses academic advisor Denise Farias, who, at the event, represented the Dean of Extension. Following this thought, Flora Santana, 15, reported how much she enjoyed participating in the festival: “Mary's teachings and the search for peace could be exercised through the initiative”.

Gabriela Carmo presented herself on the occasion and said that the event's proposal matches her work. “I believe that my music speaks about peace and participating in this event, extremely organized, is very pleasurable. I was very well received, in a loving way. Besides, being in an environment with people sharing the same purpose is incredible”, adds the singer. The next edition of the Youth for Peace Festival will be held in Montevideo (Uruguay), next October.
