From the 4th to the 6th of July, the 10th North-Northeast Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology at the Hotel Fiesta in Salvador. The event was attended by several health professionals and Prof. Dr. Adriana Campos, who teaches in the Physiotherapy and Medicine courses, participated as a representative of the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. The meeting, organized by the Brazilian Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology (SBGG – Bahia Section), had the theme “Human Aging. Longevity in perspective.”

During the event, several innovative themes were addressed and the program included conferences, demonstration of interactive clinical cases, review of scientific articles, all based on the discussion of treatment of diseases relevant to the elderly, palliative care, public policies and assistance.

Prof. Dr. Adriana Campos, along with doctors and physiotherapists, participated in the activity "Coloquium on symptoms related to Ageism (Is it age?): therapeutic approach", and shares how gratifying this moment was. “It was an honor to be invited to contribute to one of the most important regional events in the area of ​​Geriatrics and Gerontology in the North/Northeast. This year, the organization brought a roundtable to discuss the topic of Ageism. Dizziness and other symptoms such as pain and sleep disorders in the elderly were discussed. And the keynote of the whole discussion was the fact that these symptoms are not simply “aged” and cannot be considered normal in aging. A rich and very current discussion”.
