New concepts and possibilities in the practice of teaching humanization in health. This was the focus of the lecture on ethics at the clinical meeting, given by French physiotherapist Jean Paul Rességuier, on the day April 27, on campus Brotas da Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. The meeting was an initiative of the Psychopedagogical Care Center (NAPP), in partnership with the Dean of Extension and the Institutional Program for Teacher Development (PROIDD).

On the occasion, Jean Paul Rességuier addressed examples of clinical cases of rehabilitation and physiotherapy to illustrate how cultural and sociological aspects influence the work of health professionals and the exercise of patient care.

The speaker reaffirmed the importance of targeted care in the health area and how it positively affects the patient's recovery: "My presentation highlighted the relevance of the field of education in understanding the health area, as health professionals currently do more than just a job, they intervene in people's lives through care. So, it is essential to know the citizen and understand their life context in order to treat them in the most adequate and humanized way possible”.

Students, teachers and health professionals attended the lecture. Professor Simone Cardoso, coordinator of the Nursing course, told how to understand this theme of humanization in health influences university education: “It is essential to understand more about the patient, because when working with health, it is necessary to be connected with the essence of care in promoting the quality of life”.

The 7th semester student of Nursing, Thaís Moura, reported how the teachings of Jean Paul Rességuier can be applied to her area of expertise: “We nurses constantly monitor the patient, and it is important to know how to act and how to work with the person in a proper way. more human. Today I learned more about how philosophical issues contribute to the ability to be in contact with the world, with the present and to act professionally for the improvement of care”.

The main lesson of physiotherapist Jean Paul Rességuier is that health professionals need to recognize the context in which care relationships take place in order to be able to have a full performance. At the end of the meeting, Angélica Mendes, coordinator of the NAPP, shared her feeling of gratitude: “It's great to be here, in this moment of renewal of our knowledge. We, in the health area, need to understand the responsibility of taking care of the other's life and how important this role is for society”.
