Bahiana Promotes Physical Activity Week

World Physical Activity Day is celebrated on April 06th and, to mark the occasion, the Bahiana promoted the Physical Activity week on April 02nd, from 8:30 am to 13 pm, in pavilion III of Campus Cabula. The initiative was organized by teachers and students of the Physical Education course. Professors Erick Chaves, João Franco, Igor Conterato, Ciro Queiroz, Vinicius Galvão, Hélio Campos and Paulo Rodrigo Aristides mediated the event that offered body composition assessment, dance classes, gymnastics and sports activities to students and employees.
Professor Ciro Queiroz emphasizes that the celebration was aimed at alerting people to the need to change sedentary behavior. With this, the students completed questionnaires that measured the public's well-being and risks of coronary heart disease, in addition to bioimpedance tests.
Felipe Nunes, 5th semester, says that actions like this are important, as “experiencing different practices related to curricular components and promoting the integration of semesters, and even of other courses, through physical activity, stimulates learning”. Following this perspective, student Luana Monteiro, from the 1st semester of Physiotherapy, congratulates the event: “I had the opportunity to have my body composition evaluated, I found it very cool”.
Clarcson Plácido, professor and coordinator of the course, explains that the occasion alluding to the World Day of Physical Activity was planned with the aim of provoking the community of Bahiana. “Practicing physical activities, whether close to home, at the gym, on the beach or in other places, is fundamental. Improving the quality of life also depends on this, after all, sedentary lifestyle brings several risks and is a public health concern”.
