Learn, have fun and help. These are the pillars of Gymkhana Bahiana (GINBAH), an event promoted for students in the first semester of the Medicine course at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. The opening of GINBAH took place last Wednesday (27), at Campus Cabula, and aimed to present the competitions and games that will take place on the day of the competition, on April 27, and to divide the participating teams.
The medical student and monitor at GINBAH, Rafael Lelis, told how the competition came about and how it is structured: “Due to the floods that were taking place in Salvador a few years ago, we decided to think of a way to help people. Then came the proposal to idealize the gymkhana, through professors André Zimmermann and Suzana Araújo, which is to make games with a focus on academic knowledge. GINBAH has scavenger hunt tests, game mistakes, proof of 9 and charitable activities such as fundraising. All with the purpose of making the student who is experiencing the first semester of medicine like and understand how to use the subjects of biomass, anatomy, histology, biology, molecular and cellular and physiology”.
One of GINBAH's biggest goals is to raise donations for charities. This year, the organization chosen was the Care Center for People with Cancer (NASPEC). Luiza Ribeiro, people coordinator at Bahiana, was at the opening of the event and spoke about the importance of the scavenger hunt: “GINBAH works with the solidarity spirit of the student. It is essential for health professionals to learn dynamically. In this event, freshmen begin to understand the responsibilities of being graduates in Medicine”.
