Physiotherapy Clinic of Bahiana performs Solidarity Carnival

Event promoted the collection of approximately 240 adult diapers.

A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, through the Physiotherapy Clinic of the Bahiana Health held, on the day February 16 the first CSolidarity Arnaval. The program consisted of two hydrogymnastics classes with typical carnival music, props and choreographies for students from the unit and the external community. To enroll, practitioners donated a package of geriatric diapers.

The action, which united solidarity and well-being, collected approximately 240 adult diapers that will be donated to Casa de Repouso Bom Jesus, located in the Paripe neighborhood, in a suburban region of Salvador.

       

Janaína Pitanga, physiotherapist and manager of the Physiotherapy Clinic, explains that the hydrogymnastics teachers proposed this activity as a way of socializing the clinic's students, who are mostly elderly.

The water aerobics teacher Cristiane Maia comments that "the project seeks to make people aware of the practice of exercises and the importance of helping others." Guest professor Milton Rodrigues, who teaches gymnastics, hydrogymnastics, biking and Pilates, assesses his experience as an entertainer.

Student Maria da Conceição approves of the initiative: “The Solidarity Carnival provided well-being through exercises in the pool, in addition to bringing together teachers and students. If there is another edition for next year, I would like to participate”. Simiria Resende, also a student, says she invited her aunt and sister to enjoy the class and praised the event: “The Bahiana Congratulations".
