A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública start, from March 12th, an online lecture cycle on advanced health informatics topics. The event, free and open to the public, is organized by the Distance Education Center (NEAD) and will be held monthly.

The first lecture, entitled "The regulation of telemedicine in Brazil: aspects of digital and health law” will be transmitted through the Mconf videoconference system and given by Dr. Sandra Franco, president of the OAB Health Law Commission.

The program will present a brief history of the regulation of telemedicine in the country up to the recently published Resolution nº 2.227/18 of the Federal Council of Medicine. National and international cases will be presented, with the application of telemedicine as a tool for expanding care and optimizing funds for the health sector. The perspectives created by two new laws enacted in 2018, the General Personal Data Protection Law, and the Medical Record Digitization Law, will also be evaluated and discussed regarding their ethical and legal aspects and the national legal system.
