Bahiana Health opens Community Clinic

New space has nine offices and a vaccine room.

Bahiana Saúde now has one more space for reception and health care. it is about the Community Clinic, an annex located on Campus Brotas, opened on February 1st with the presence of the medical director prof. Humberto Castro Lima Filho and the Operations Coordinator of the Bahiana Health, Mariana Soliani, in addition to teachers and employees.

With nine offices and a vaccination room, the new clinic is the space where low-risk prenatal care, medical clinic and pediatrics (childcare) for children aged 0 to 23 months will be carried out. On site, the residence of the Bahiana of Family and Community Medicine. "The Community Ambulatory is an annex of the Bahiana Health, where the service is exclusively academic, that is, provided by professors and students, to demand basic consultations", clarifies the Nursing manager of the Bahiana Health, Ana Paula Monteiro.

      

On the occasion, Dr. Humberto presented the service structure of the Bahiana Health that includes the Physiotherapy and Psychology clinics, the Medical Center, the Dental Center and the Dentistry Clinic, the latter two located on Campus Cabula. "Today was the presentation of the Community Ambulatory, which is a new space for the Bahiana, aimed at assisting SUS patients in a humane, comfortable and ethical manner. I think it is a milestone for the institution, because from the construction of this new outpatient clinic, a real change in the flow of patient care is triggered", he emphasizes.

Dr. Humberto estimates that, per year, around 300 students will carry out activities in the new space and approximately 2 patients will be attended to. It highlights the innovative aspect of the initiative and emphasizes the importance of humanizing service spaces. "As Paulo Freire says: 'There is an indisputable pedagogicity in the materiality of space.' It is a synthetic way of saying that physical space, care, beauty, aesthetics, information and cleanliness are important, in addition to having a function It's a way of teaching students, doctors and patients themselves that we respect people."
