Academic League of Bahiana promotes oral health project in Ruy Barbosa

The Bahia Academic League of Oral Health Education (LABESB) of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública carried out an action to promote oral health in the municipality of Ruy Barbosa, which is located 321km from Salvador. The activity, coordinated by Professor Dr. Antônio Pitta Correa, took place from 14 to 22 July this year and benefited 881 patients, including children and adolescents, through various free dental services.

    

Dental surgeons Maria Carlota Neves Dourado Correa, Rodolfo Rocha de Barros, Ana Maria Silveira Meireles, Mariana Vieira Souza, Juliana Pires Alvim and another 11 members of LABESB, students of the Dentistry course at Bahiana, participated in the action. The project was supported by Colgate and SDI, and the dental procedures performed were: 881 supervised brushings, 881 topical applications, 25 composite resin restorations, 325 glass ionomer restorations, 164 sealants, 21 supragingival scalings and 86 primary tooth extractions .
