students of Bahiana are awarded at the 7th Congress of Sector IV of the Brazilian College of Surgeons

Medical students at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública won the award for “Best Free Theme” at the 7th Congress of Sector IV of Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões. The event took place from September 06th to 08th, at Hotel Deville Prime, in Salvador. The students were guided by Professor Dr. Ana Célia Romeo, who teaches the Operative Technique and Experimental Surgery II discipline.

The awarded students were Fernanda Silva Atta, Danielle Freitas Serafim, Ana Catharina Pinho Costa, Alan German Carvalho Uzquiano, Talita Góes de Almeida, Natália Consuelo Figueiredo, Letícia Souza Sancho, André Costa Meireles, Caroline Novis, Giulliano Rodrigues de Britto, João Pedro Souza Santos and Mário Viana Rodrigues. They are part of the Study and Research Group on Emergency and Trauma and presented the work "Soropolitan Trauma Registry in an Intensive Care Unit (RESOUTTI): pilot project".

     
The group also received five honorable mentions with the presentation of the free themes "Surgical treatment versus conservative treatment in victims of liver trauma", "Hepatic trauma: description of outcomes", "Surgical treatment versus conservative treatment in victims with splenic injury", "Methodology training of monitors in the theoretical-practical course in surgery: innovative proposal for the development of surgical skills in medical graduation" and "Theoretical-practical approach of abscesses, cysts and lipomas: teaching model of outpatient surgical techniques in the medical course performed by a league academic", the latter two describing the teaching methodology applied in the subject of TOCE II of the Bahiana.

Another achievement occurred during the congress: Professor Dr. Rinaldo Antunes Barros, coordinator of the Center for Teaching and Research in Anatomy (NEPA), received an honorable mention for his work “Initiative Choosing Wisely in Trauma: implementation of the list of recommendations”.

The 7th Congress of Sector IV of the Brazilian College of Surgeons is a scientific event that seeks to discuss, through a broad vision, professional updates in the various fields of activity of surgeons.
